Some people have seen increased performance and "fluidity" from disabling AGP. However, features like Fast Writes and Sideband Addressing require AGP to work properly. Personally, I think it's akin to washing your car and having it run better ;-) With 128MB at my disposal - I see no difference whatsoever w/ or w/o AGP. Your mileage may vary, of course! Try it and see if it helps. If it does, yahoo...if not, no skin off your nose to turn it on again!J

I actually had ppor results on a couple of different systems turning off AGP texture acceleration. It's just one of those things that varry by system, and has to really be tried out before you can tell wither or not it will work for you.Ryan-Flightpro08 :-cool VATSIM Pilot/ControllerZLA ARTCC Senior Controller (C-3)SAN TRACON Lead [link:www.taxiwaysigns.com|Taxiwaysigns.com] Scenery Designer-----------------------------My "Home Made" System Specs:Intel Pentium 4 2.2GHz ProcessorTurbo Gamer ATX Mid-Tower with 420W Power SupplyEPoX 4G4A Motherboard with Intel 845G ChipsetVisiontek XTASY GeForce4 128MB Ti4600 (Det 41.03 Drivers)512MB PC2100 DDR RAM40GB Matrox 7200RPM Hard DriveWindows XP Home Edition SP1*No CPU or GPU Overclocking*3dMark2001SE Score: 11298-----------------------------Click [link:ftp.avsim.com/library/esearch.php?DLID=&Name=&FileName=&Author=Ryan+Fretwell&CatID=Root]Here to Download my New American Eagle POSKY CRJ-200!

Well, well here they are all the knowing people. There have been reports frm many many people in the past that turning AGP off has dramatically increased their performance in FS2002. Others have reported no difference. Almost mone have reported a decrease in performance. If it works for you is depending on a lot of different factors like speed of your RAM, amount of memory in your card etc..You do not have to go as far as completely disabling your AGP. Try playing with your aperture size first. Set it to a low level. Actually by setting the Aperture site to 8MB you would disable your AGP. Most people set their aperture size to a high value like 256 or 128. Try 32 or 16 instead. Many people that had microstutters reported that they disappeared after setting the the aperture to 16MB.The reason why it can make a diffence is that by setting the Aperture Size to a low level you are forcing your vid card to use its own, and in those days usually much faster memory. The AGP was developped at a time when graphics cards hat 16MB or less, and did not use DDR Ram. The idea was to let the vid card make use of the system memory. With today's cards that have 64 or even 128 MB DDR meomory things have changed. Just try it out, it is easy to go back. If you turn your AGP off you might see problems with other games though. When you experience these just remember to activate your AGP again.Alex

I have a Radeon 64 DDR and there is a distinct improvement with AGP Texture Accel off. I leave the aperture at 32 in the BIOS.Noel
