Urgently need hardware specialist advise for XP/FS2K2

Hi dear fellows,Some of you may remember me since I posted last week something to complain about SB live cards. Now as you may know all of you, computer science is not as precise as one may think the first glad!...I upgraded my system recently, as well as the hardware:motherboard Asus P4B 533E, CPU Pentium 4 2.4Ghz, 512 DDR ram pc2100,graphic card GeForce 3ti200, harddrive WD 80Go udma100, sound card SB live 5.1, and the brand new operating system being the Win XP homeedition. All these stuff just for fs2k2.So any one imagine my despair since my system too often comes to a crash, especially in fs2k2.According to windows, no conflicts anywhere, all drivers ok, even *.inf intel files, also bought a new enermax power supply to be sure the re-boots are not due to a CPU overheat, because it may be the cause. So, here I am, so many different probable causes.I'm thinking the intel CPU may be the cause, but perhaps its alsomy Ram DIMM, or even the motherboard, who knows? So if any of you brilliant guy could tell me a known causeof XP crashes (sometimes it crashes with just the explorer!!!)I'd be the happiest guy at the moment.I sold my old PIII 866/win98SE and I do defintely regret it...regards,Arnie.

You might need to open BIOS and set your Dram CAS latency down. Your system is kinda speedy for pc2100, probably needed pc2700 or higher RAM.

The ASUS products site does not show the P4B533-E as supporting PC2700, only PC1600/2100, so the memory itself is not likely the cause. In fact, this board appears to be at the "low end" for this type of procecssor. It is only listed as supporting "up to" 2.4 gHz, so the processor may be driving over the limit of the board in some special situations, especially if Arnie is trying to overclock. Something like the P4S333 or even a higher series, might have been a better choice of board for that processor.Arnie... is there a chance that the board has the optional on-board sound? If so, you might try running that without installing the SB. Art.
