I just flew a real Pilatus PC-12!

Hi all! Yesterday was one of those rare and new days in a pilot's life when I got to fly a new airplane and get "checked out" in a PC-12 for a new job I may be taking. Man, what a machine!! I am sure some of you have flown them in FS2000 or FLYII, and let me tell you, get the one FS2KPC12V6.ZIP for FS2000 right here. It is great, and flies very much like the real one!! I can tell you that. The airplane flies like a brick with ailerons, very very heavy, same a a 777 level D sim I once flew. Pitch is more sensitive, but still heavier than a small GA plane. And the touchdowns are smoooooth! Trailing link gear, and a touchdown speed of around 80k. The reverse is very very powerful!! no braking needed! If any one wants data on this great machine, let me know!take care!Peter JamesC402C Captain, Cape Air/Nantucket Airlines

Just a note, Peter...I used to enjoy your pieces over at flightsim. I'm not sure how long you have been hanging out here, but, even tho I may be a day late and a dollar short, welcome to the avsim gang...Sherm

Agreed. And I'm very glad to see you are flying a very respectable aircraft for a very respectable charter. Just curious though, why don;t you contribute to flightsim.com any more? Like, shermank, I always enjoyed you contributions, and found them very insightful. :D

PeterGreat to hear from you again :-) the Pilatus is a big bird about the size of a Kingair with one engine. As for me i am a bit of a Seneca Five specialist flying single pilot on three newish ones which can be heavy going (This pic I took today coming back from Dublin in weather "more like Dantes inferno".Hoping to move back into citations soon ;-)All the bestPeter

ShermI presume the spiderweb is in the canopy but I liked the shot as the spiderweb added to the Dantes inferno look of this shot which I took this evening flying single Pilot back from Dublin.Below those clouds was severe rain which has caused extensive flooding in the UK, low cloudbase and bad turbulence :-)Peter

Nice... my first flight instructor is Captain on a PC-12 now. Says he'd be happy if this was the only plane he ever flew for the rest of his career... now if he can just get me a right seat job... :)

>Just to let you know that you can dl an updated version for >FS2k2: fs2kpc12v62.zip It's GREAT! Have flown it a while now... and all is very very well, done, flys like the book says it should, cruise speeds etc., coorelate well with power settings, ITT etc. Boy, really, just like I experienced in the real one.The real one is a real truck to fly. IT's just as heavy on the ailerons axis as the 777! So keep your sensitivities as low as you do for a heavy airliner for the best experience.Peter JamesC402C Captain, Cape Air/Nantucket Airlines

It's a marvellous plane! I first saw it in FlyII, then a couple of months ago I saw it IRL at an airshow and had an opportunity to talk about it with the pilot (he was clearly in love with this baby) and to sit down in the cockpit for a while. I downloaded the FS2K2 version instantly when I saw this thread and has been flying it a couple of times now. And will continue to do so - this is certainly going to be one of my absolute favourites.Does anybody know if there will be a VC or internal side views available for this excellent plane? Or any other updates? Anybody working on it?BamceEFHN
