One Happy Simmer!!

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hi folks,This isn't a post of complaint, nor a post looking for help. Rather, it's a post to express my extreme happiness at this moment! I just visited Avsim and noticed that two very talented authors have released a Gmax version of my hometown airport, St. John's, NF, CYYT!! I loaded it up, and all I can say is, OH MY GAWD!!! They hit it right on the head! What a fantastic job they did! My sincere thanks go out to Steve and Craig Moser for taking the time to do this scenery addon. I currently use their fabulous Halifax (CYHZ) and Moncton (CYQM) scenery, and now this really adds to my very rare Atlantic Canada addition of scenery addon files. With Oleksiy's awesome Dash 8-300 and this new CYYT scenery , I really see no reason to leave the house! Except to work of course! Doh! Work really cuts into serious flight simming time ya know! ;-)I don't know if Steve and Craig frequent this forum or not, but this is one HUGE thanks from a very happy Newfoundlander! Cheers to ya both! :-beerchug If ever one or two of you are in the St. John's area, drop me a line. A round of beers are definitely on me!Best regards,Gord NoseworthyNewfoundland, Canada (CYYT)

GordYes, I do pop by here, usually every evening after work. Thanks very much for the kind words. CYYT was enjoyable to do, and pretty quick to boot...about 6 weeks. Hopefully all Newfoundlanders (and Maritimers) will find the file. Spread the word! The airport authority provided us with everything we needed, including drawings and a security escort complete with vehicle. The Safety and Security manager, Robert Nurse, deserves some credit for making this possible. CYYT quality bitmapping does not happen unless you have complete access and plenty of time on the airfield to get what you need. We got exactly what we needed. Our last trip to Nfld was the first one in twenties years, and I'd forgotten how rugged and beautiful it is. I'll be coming back again for sure, and probably pounding on your door for refreshments. :>)Craig

Craig, my congratulations too to both you and your brother. On Gordy's recommendation here, I downloaded both St. John's and Halifax. Great work! I have been to both (St. John's as recently as Feb. 2000 - who the heck goes to St. John's in February????)... Anyway, great job!

Hi TomThanks very much for the encouragement. It means a lot coming from an experienced flight simmer like yourself. Yes, St. John's in February can be a little tricky, also March, April, May, June, October, November, December and January. (G)I'd better run now before Wade Chafe gets here!Craig

Gord, thanks for the heads-up. I'm downloading the three files right now. One reason I would like to start flying around St John's is because of a bush flying book that I read by Lee Wulff, who described wonderfully his bush trips around NewFoundland. Is there a good mesh and landclass for NF?

We (Jim Kanold and I) know the work that it takes to "do" an airportthe way the Moshers do and I will gladly gobble up anything they have to offer. Dan

Hi Naji,I use an updated Mesh file from our very own, Samy Mesbah. He created this mesh shortly after FS2K2 was released, and I must say, is much better than the default FS version. I can email you the file if you wish, or you should be able to download it from here. Just do a search on Samy and you should have no trouble finding it.Enjoy!Gord NoseworthyNewfoundland, Canada (CYYT)
