can anyone tell me why there is law that planes are not allowed to go >250ias under 10,000'why is thisis it because there is more traffic below this altitude or perhaps noise abatement? or what?thanks!:-wave

because of a mid-air over NY in 1960[?] UAL DC-8 vs TWA L1049. Ual was going so fast it flew into LGA's traffic pattern before ATC noticed. tom t [ i think the FL is now 180] tt
