Hardware Question- EIDE Cable in New Computer.

Recommended Posts

This is my second PC to build. My new motherboard offers ATA-66/100, and comes with an ATA/100 EIDE cable (more "strands" than the standard IDE). (My HD also supports ATA 100).Can I use the EIDE ATA/100 cable to run just standard IDE? I'm thinking I have to get Windows up and running first before I can invoke ATA/100 and the mobo drivers. Do I need to use an older "standard" IDE cable to do that initially? Thanks,Bruce.
