Geforce Titanium versions don't work with Pentium 4 !!

Yes I cannot believe this but I've tried both a Winfast(Leadtek)Geforce 2 Titanium 64mb card and a Leadtek Geforce 4 Ti4000 128mb card in my new system and they both cause lockups and in particular in any games ...it's just hopeless.The MX versions are fine ..no problems with the Geforce 2 MX and the Geforce 4 mx but its all to do with the voltage of the AGP Slot for the Pentium 4. I've had a top computer specialist shop that has just discovered this.The Titaniums need more than 1.5volt that the AGP4x 2.0 slot can offer.... so it seems ....something is dreadfully wrong here !! Most boards I looked at the specs only quote AGP at 4X 1.5v and some have an adjustment in the bios to go from 1.6-1.8volt for AGP but how is a card marketed for a Pentium 4 and yet it wont work !!My system :Gigabyte 8-IDX Intel 845 Pentium 4 1.8 Northwood430watt Power supply512mb PC133 SDRAMMaxtor 40Gb HDD 7200rpmSoundblaster LiveWindows XP Pro

I have the same CPU as you, in a brand new sysetm (ABit BD7II, 256 PC2100 DDR), and am seeing no lock-ups. Video card is a LeadTek GeForce 3 Ti200, with drivers that came on the CD (that's as far as I've got). Incredible frame rates, no lockups over a 1 hour period last night, which included many view switches (usually will prompt a lockup, if one's going to occur).The mobo I have has the 845E chipset, I don't know if that's a reason for our different performances? (I returned an earlier BD7 (not "II") board with the 845 chipset, ABit said it wouldn't support the new Intel P4's (512K cache)). Also- an issue I've had in the past: Try disabling ATA drivers, that caused me this same grief on my past system (BX board).Good luck- I'd be happy to experiement with anything, if you want to try stuff.Bruce.

The answer to your dilemma is not clear, but it does not lie in making a blanket, and foolish statement like you did above. The very fact that hundreds, thousands with similar systems are successful, should tell you that you are in a minority.Why don't you take a step back, and take 10 minutes to clarify your issues, and list your steps taken to solve this vexing problem. When I upgraded to XP, everything went wrong, and I am a professional. I believed that my new motherboard was at fault, but no...it was me! :)Lots of folks here to help you. Just ask.Cheers,bt

Hi Braun & Bruce etc !!OK it was a bold statement ..propably should have read as above that they dont work with my P4 !This was the message I initially got back from the Computer Technician...about problems with the Geforce 2 Titanium with the GA-8IDX. They did think the Geforce 4 Ti4400 would be the answer but I had already tried that so it really had to be the motherboard which I had thought all along. Since this morning a new Gigabyte motherboard has been installed ( a different model )...a GA-8IGX with a 533 FSB and now with DDR Ram instead of the SDRAM ).I've been told this has now fixed the problem ...hopefully things will be all go now!
