Geforce TI 4200 128 MB problems: Help needed

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,I really need your help on this one.Since a week I have a problem with the graphics in FS2004. The problems began with little white spikes flashing bye when looking into dark surfaces (e.g. the panel)and after that ranges from skies being reflected on the ground to smearing graphics to complete crashes. First I thought it had something to do with replacement textures till this afternoon when the problems got worse and I was confronted with blue screens with the following errormessages:---------------snip-----------------------------------//// Watchdog Event Log File//LogType: WatchdogCreated: 2004-01-27 17:05:15TimeZone: -60 - West-Europa (standaardtijd)WindowsVersion: XPEventType: 0xEA - Thread Stuck in Device Driver//// The driver for the display device got stuck in an infinite loop. This// usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device// driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check with your// display device vendor for any driver updates.//ShutdownCount: 544Shutdown: 0EaRecovery: 1EventCount: 2BreakCount: 2BugcheckTriggered: 1DebuggerNotPresent: 1DriverName: nv4_dispEventFlag: 1DeviceClass: DisplayDeviceDescription: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8XHardwareID: PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_0281&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_A1Manufacturer: NVIDIADriverFixedFileInfo: FEEF04BD 00010000 0006000E 000A14B7 0006000E 000A14B7 0000003F 00000008 00040004 00000003 00000004 00000000 00000000DriverCompanyName: NVIDIA CorporationDriverFileDescription: NVIDIA Compatible Windows 2000 Display driver, Version 53.03 DriverFileVersion: 6.14.10.5303DriverInternalName: nv4_disp.dllDriverLegalCopyright: © NVIDIA Corporation. WinXP reinstalled with 52.xx driver upon restart. This did not help either, but made it worse. What is wrong, what can I do? I did not have this problem before with FS nor with other games and I don't have any problems when using windows.I've attached some screens to illustrate my problems. Help is very much appreciated.Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif"To go up, pull the stick back. If you are still under factory warranty, get your card replaced.I did this and got a newer Ti4200 card with faster memory that performs better in FS9.

Hi Rob,it looks to me like a serious hardware problem - i.e. fried components. But before you send it back for a replacement, remove the card, uninstall the drivers, and carefully check it for dust etc. on the surface. Do not use any tools or force to remove foreign objects, just very gently shake it and see what comes off. Then reinstall it with an up-to-date driver and check the results. If the problem is still there, it's time for a replacement.Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg
