Any Long Islanders out there?

In February 2002, I moved to Bayville, Long Island, NY, which is on the north shore between Glen Cove and Oyster Bay.It's at the limit of the cable system, so my signal is not so good.It's at the limit of the Nextel 'phone system coverage, so my cellphone doesn't work.It's on an exposed beach, so it floods occasionally.It's a long way from the LIE (possibly a good thing)It doesn't have a station (also possibly a good thing)But worst of all .......it doesn't seem to feature in any of the landclass packages I have tried in FS2002! All I see is trees!You can imagine my horror and disappointment. I've hovered, I've GA'd, I've even taken an F-16 through the district at 100 feet ... but there's no doubt about it, it's not there.Booooooo hooooooooo! Can anybody help? It would only be a teeny weeny landclass file, I'm sure, but I'm danged if I know where to start. Hi neighbor! I'm at school in Boston right now, but my home is next door in Locust Valley. I know what you mean about the landclass files. I have my private pilot's liscense, and flew around the Bayville area last year and did notice that there is a lot more beach than is depicted in the Landclass scenery I've seen. I have a feeling if you mention that to Justin Thyme, he might be able to do something in his project! Thanks, all ...Rob ... I live in New York now, having married the prettiest girl in the company when I was SVP of Cunard Line. And before you ask, yes, we did have our wedding on the QE2. I am a Brit, though, brought up in Cheltenham (will someone please model EGBJ for us? Gary Summons forgot it. Thanks!); but I lived for fourteen years in Hong Kong working for The Swire Group. As you'll know, Swire run Cathay.Misha ... if I knew how to do that, I wouldn't have made this post! But maybe I'll try.Phil ... aha! I'm from Long Island.........I live about 1 mile from ISP in Ronkonkoma.I have seen some Long Island airport scenery for FS2000 but none for FS2002 yet.

MarkTry FSGenesis US National Landclass Beta 3. You can dl it here: http://www.fsgenesis.com/ (look for Download Phase 1 Beta 3 Preview)A 1.87 Mb file. Freeware, for the moment... by Justin Thyme and it extends half the USA and some part of Ontario and Quebec for now. The images below show how it looks in FSYou could also set the LC by yourself, using Landclass Assistant as someone suggest. Mind you if you go this way you'll pretty have to dl all the previous release (I think!) so you have all files required. Not a big deal. All of these zip files (by John Cillis), 4 or 5, are quite mall <500kbHope it helpsHugo

I am using another Landclass that was made for New England but also covers L.I. I am from the Bay Shore-Islip-Sayville area(originally). I flew over Heckscher State Park and there were houses there. Not in my day and I doubt there are today.Don

Yep, it's the pun on your name (Dark Moment) that gave away your British heritage. 'nam .... love it. I shall use that from hereon, to the undoubted confusion of anyone in the US who's over 40.The history of 'Dark Moment' does indeed stem from a 'British' play on words. When I was working in Hong Kong, an English foreign exchange dealer friend who used to ring my office frequently could never get through. "Mark Beaumont, please." "Ah .. Mak Bewmonk .. not know ..." "No, Mark Beaumont, please." "Er ... Mah Booomonnch ... solly, cannock fiynte him." Anyway, after a particularly long night in the depths of Wanchai, supping ale and froclicking with females until the early hours, the same friend nicknamed me "Dark Moment" for keeping everybody up so late (because yes, it was all my fault). The next morning he called me at the office to compare hangovers, asked for "Dark Moment, please", and was put straight through.
