Any point at going from 17" CRT to 19" CRT

Featured Replies

I now have an almost six year old Belinea 17" monitor. I wonder if it makes any sense and is it worth the money to get a new 19" CRT monitor?

I have to say I never understood why someone would be satisfied with a 17" monitor for flight simulation. It is simply too small. I have 19" monitor and to further enhance my simulation experience I use a fresnel lens to magnify it even more. The bigger the better (but not more than say 40").Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

Hello,Depending on your vid card, you can add a new one and have your 2d cockpit on the old monitor and other views on the new one....

What is a fresnel lens?Anyway yeah the bigger the better. Also if you get a newer screen which supports higher refresh rate at higher resolution you get a greater sense of depth :). Also the tube is very important as well. If you have a non Trinitron monitor and get a Trinitron or Diamondtron your jaws will drop to the floor how much better they have become :).Still remember when I replaced my Hansol 900 P 19" CRT for a Sony Trinitron 21". It was like adding 4xaa and 8x aniso without any performance hit it was just unbelievable. And before that I liked the Hansol 900P quite a bit. It was sharp and very bright but especially colours was what made the world of difference.21-22" is quite reasonable size I think if you can fit one on your desk :). Though 19" is generally a lot cheaper but hard to find one with the same image quality as some of the 21"-22" out there.Trinitron or Diamondtron doesn

>Hello,>Depending on your vid card, you can add a new one and have>your 2d cockpit on the old monitor and other views on the new>one....I have a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128M. And I suppose you mean I should have my 2d cockpit on the new monitor and other views on the old?

Hi,In my case I run 2D cockpit, FSNav, Radio, GPS (when needed) on the OLD monitor and other views on the NEW monitor. I did this because I run 1600x1200x32 resolution on the new one and I like the IQ of the Spot view. The old monitor cannot run that resolution and the views like FSNav, 2D cockpit , ... are less demanding.Hope it helps.BTW I run an "old" GF4 TI4600 vid card
