I need help with Geforce 6600 and 6800 Graphics Cards

None here either. But what I've found is.. I've installed WinXP Full(no luck) I reverted back to the TI4200 card, and found that using same updated drivers are giving the same problems. 70 series have the panel artifact issue. And from 61.77s down, they go away but give other problems, taskbar lockups, or sound studders. And for some reason I can't get my original 52.16 drivers which I ran forever to even go in. So in my opinion here. It's an Nvidia driver/Via chipset compatability issue, at least on my end. I have 3 MBs all via chipsets, and 4 graphics cards, and have all been swapped every which way. And I've read somewhere about Nvidia having problems with compatablity with via, but there's others out there running the very same equipment. So I'm shipping my MB back to have it checked out, then if that don't work, I'm switchin over to ATI. That's bout all I got at this point.James

I had the same problem with my 6800gt, pulled half my hair out trying to find the solution. I had tried so many tweaks and put in so many add-ons that I finally decided just to wipe the slate clean. After reformatting my hard drive ( full format, not the quick option), reloading windows XP SP2, and then installing only FS2004 and squawkbox3 ( SB3 ), the problem was gone. The downside is that I don't know what caused it. I have a Pentium 3.0 with an MSI 865PE intel based motherboard, 1 gig of ram, 160 mb sata hardrive, and soundblaster xifi soundcard. I also have no "tweaks" in either the FS9.cfg or windows services.I have "render to texture" on and AA off in the sim, 4x AA and 16x AF applied in the video driver. I don't like running AA application controlled from the sim for two reasons: 1) You have no AA in windows mode, and 2) in full screen mode, SB3 seems to take control of AA and turns it off when SB3 starts.I run two 21" crt monitors. I tried many drivers and have settled on the 71.89s. Most of the drivers worked fine in single display mode, it was when I used dualview in full screen mode that I got problems with some. One set of 80 series drivers,( 81.85 I believe ) gave me repeated CTDs and reboots as soon as windows loaded. All the other 80 series drivers gave me flickering grapics on the second monitor in fullscreen mode.SB3 can be a real pain with dual monitors in full screen mode. Most people seem to run it in windows mode, but I don't like those windows borders around all my panels. If it wasn't for Squawkbox, I'd probably be running the 78.01 drivers, but the 71.89s were the latest that seemed to run well with SB3. What I found with any drivers later than the 71.89s is that if SB3 was running and I had a panel on the second monitor, any additional panel that I clicked on wouldn't appear unless I exited sb3 and then restarted it.Its been exhausting testing all those drivers, but my test flight last night on Vatsim was so smooth and clear it made it all worth it.I'm sorry I can't tell you what caused my graphics corruption, I just hope my experience will benefit somewhat else. I am now in the process of reloading my add-ons one by one and retesting after each install. After that maybe I'll start trying the tweaks one by one. If I find the culprit I will post it in the forums, but it may be awhile because I'm tired of testing and happy to be flying again.I did a lot of research on 6800 drivers in many forums. What I found is that a lot of people are having problems with these cards and FS2004, but I didn't find any solutions. It also appears that the best driver seems to be system dependent. I don't know if the ATIs are any better, but there seem to be less posts about them.Good Luck,Ted

Hi!I think I'm having a similar problem with my Gforce Go 6800 Ultra. Everytime a system tooltip appears, the screen became strange, with an overlay or something like that. You can check what happens in the images above:This is the normal screen, without problemhttp://img384.imageshack.us/img384/5072/normal8po.jpgBut, when a tooltip appears, this is how is the screenhttp://img62.imageshack.us/img62/9763/tooltip6cq.jpgI think this is a driver problem, because each time I update it, theproblem changes. I only can use Flight Simulator with an old driver version (72.01) that came with my computer, because I have just the tooltip problem with it.With the newest driver (78.51), the problem is worst. As I use to fly online at Ivao network, I use the communication software called Ivap. Everytime I open the Ivap screen, or any other undocked window, like the GPS, the image freeze until I close it.I tried to turn AA off and the problem disappeared with 72.01 driver, but the image is horrible and don't make sense to have a 6800 ultra that you can't use AA.Thanks for any help, let's keep trying to find a solution.Bachian

Just a quick update. I just got off the phone with BFG tech. There's been no reports of this issue as of yet besides mine, and it's been elevated to the next level. What we need to do is get everyone with this problem to get on the phone and report the problem, and urge the techs to push this to Nvidia. They will not get through to them for just one report. Call em up guys. Meantime.. Running fullscreen mode, set the card AA on Application controlled, and turning on AA within FS works ok, at least on my end, running the 81.98 drivers. That should work with any drivers in theory. I cannot stand Fullscreen mode, every time I go to open something outside FS, it bars down. Most of my checklists, etc are all electronic on the second monitor, hence the idea of 2 monitors(for me anyways)I have tested the beta drivers 67.03 http://download.nvidia.com/windows/67.03/6...kxp_english.exe and they work on my system in windows mode but limited to AA 4x. 8xS gave me colored blocks all over the screen below the mouse when activating tooltip. At 4x the problems went away. If you wanna give it a go, here is where I am at right now.....ASUS A8V Deluxe 4.51driversAthlon64 3500+2.2GHzKingston 2x512 DDR 3200BFG6800GTOC 67.03betaWinXP SP2 updatedFS9.1 Render Text on Transform on AA off MIP 4Card SettingsAA 4x This one needs to stay where it's at.AF 2xVert Syn onForce Mip BiText Clamp onExt Lim OffTrilinear Opt offAni Mip Opt offAni Samp Opt offNeg LOD bias clampI believe the rest of the settings won't affect the issue. I will be playing around with em to try and improve quality. If you guys try this out, let me know if these drivers work for you. I have yet to try it on the 6600 card.

My problem is that I have a Dell XPS Gen 2 notebook, with a nVidia Go 6800 ultra, but I only can download the driver from Dell website. The newest version of Dell's 6800 driver is 78.51, It seems they don't care too much about update the driver.I've been calling Dell's support, but they said that they don't know about this problem and that I have to pay for a new software support for that. :-(

Ok, so you have a packaged job, assuming the 6800 came with it. Yea, that's techs for ya. Well Bachian, as luck would have it these beta drivers just gave me the problem that you are having, right out of the blue. All the other issues are gone, but yours seemed to have introduced itself to me, which I have never seen yet. And that did not happen until after I defragged. So I am headed back to the drawing board.

I discovered that the only way to stop this is to disable de AA of the nVidia and let the FS AA on. But it doesn't make sense to have a 6800 ultra that you can't use AA.The other thing is that I'm having video problem with Rainbow Six 3 game, if I let the AA on, the intro videos and all other videos doesn't appear, I just hear the audio. If I turn AA off, all became normal.Bachian

Well, I am trying to do it that way right now. AA on the card to application controlled, and FS AA on. If you go into full screen mode, FS will Antialias. Most of the problems go away, but I still get some flickers around the outside of the screen, and I have found some other problems, so it's about finding the right drivers to fix that part of it. I am still testing different drivers for that aspect of it.Now for your Rainbow Six or any other games. You will have to find different settings for those games, if you need to. I am testing Battlefield 1942 right now also, just as a test, and it seems to be fine at the same settings. You can create profiles for each game that needs it's own setting, so all you have to do is switch profile, apply it, reboot and go. I'm not sure if there is an easier way, but it's always worked for me.
