X1950 (any flavour) question...

Recommended Posts

I am looking at buying an AGP version of this card. It is one bulky piece of hardware for sure.Question is : would anybody know whether the size (read: length) is the same with all manufacturers ? I am fairly sure I would need to move my hard drives to accomodate this monster. But it would help if I knew that eg. the HSI version is shorter than the Sapphire version.I would settle for any flavour as they are getting hard to get (except on eBay) :-)Thanks

Hi Br,The 1950s whether its the AGP or PCIe's, they are all around 25-26cm / 9-10inch long.Just keep in mind, that depending what version you get, you either have single, or dual slot cooling. Just a heads-up Thickness-wise.Hope that helps,Regards,

Thanks. Dual-slot cooling is not a problem. I can accomodate that. It is just the length that worries me.Thanks Davis

As long as it fits in the AGP slot it's fine. It's a problem if its bulk protrudes to other parts of the motherboard. Getting a large case usually helps.Regards

Guest over and out

I just installed the agp Saphire x1950 in my Dell system below (I have not updated my specs yet below). It is a monster but it does fit easily in my full tower. I will also be installing a pci slot fan next to it, I just got to help cool it.I also got a new 700wt atx power supply since the Dell had a 460wt I have been getting all my stuff from Newegg.com (the card was 170 bucks)JSC-Server PC: Dell XPS Gen2Pen 3.2 GHz; 2G mem; 80G HD; ATI 850X 256meg; Saitek X-45 and Pedals; TrackIR; Dell 24
