How to determine cause of PC reboot (FSX related)?

I have noticed that if I start a long distance flight (using the PMDG B744, so quite resource intensive), then minmize FSX and proceed with other apps while occasionally checking on the FSX flight progress, that eventually the PC crashes to a reboot. This occurs when I go to maximise FSX to once again check on progress.I have 2GB of DDR3 RAM ( 2* CRUCIAL ct12864ba1067 1gb (1024mb) pc3-8500 1066mhz cl7 240-pin ddr3 dimm), running WinXP SP2, and have not yet applied the boot.ini patch to allow FSX to use more than the standard 2GB of RAM.Is there a way, after the machine reboots, to dertermine the cause of a crash such as this? The reboot is almost instantaneous upon maximising FSX, and I have yet to confirm that the reboot does not occur if I leave FSX maximised.Q6600 (no overclocking), 2GB DDR3, GA-X38T-DQ6, NV 7950GT at 1680*1080, 650Watt PSU.Thanks, and suggestions most welcome.Bruce.

Sometimes there ia a hint as to what happened in the event log (Control panel -> Administrative tools) but not always.With most FS problems (unless the culprit is really obvious), the only way to find out it to test and isolate scenarios until you know either how to solve the problem or at least how to avoid it. I know the irritation this brings since I've just spent most of a day doing exactly that }(Good luck!Geoff

Thanks Geoff,I have taken a look at the event log snd obviously have to weed out the critical information from the routine stuff. Next time I need to note the time on the PC when I figure that a crash might occur.I have also looked at the WinXP help and searched on "crash log", and came up with a routine "Dr Watson". I'm not sure what this does in addition to the event log yet but may try it. Thanks again, Bruce.

Hi Bruce, In addition to what was mentioned, maybe also turn off automatic reboots if it's on? This might give you a better idea about the nature of the prob? Good luck and kind regards Jaap

Thanks Jahman,I always run FSX in Windowed mode, but will try the de-maxified state as well. Maybe time to update drivers as well :)Thanks, Bruce.
