Is there a benefit in running FS9 or FSX in 64-bit rather than 32-bit ?Thanks

Yeah, there is - it won't crash with an OOM error.

I meant more performance-wise...I am happy with XP 32-bit reliability...

With Vista 64-bit you get DX10 Preview mode...

Some users report that XP64 of Vista64 will lead to a "smoother" simulation experience, but there are no outright improvements to FPS or other details. If you move to XP64 of Vista64, expect to get perhaps more rapid flight load times (not by much) and perhaps faster/better "blurry" prevention, but no frames-per-second improvements.Report back if you make the switch!-Greg
