Hello folks,due to some incidents within the last weeks, and the last one about 10 minutes ago in the zone, i regret to inform you, that just good flying makes not a good day of online-flying.For those, who do not understand what i mean, let me explain that to you.When i started flying helicopters back in FS98, in had a hard time getting control over the helicopter. It went where it wanted to, and i was just passenger. After a few years and hundreds of hours came FS2000, and the helicopter model changed a bit. I upgraded my computer in addition to the spohisticated flightcontrol-system i had bought in the meantime, and FS2000 became then my favourite flight simulator. FS2002 came up, i bought it, and a new computer again. No this is not a complain about hardware consumpion. It's a hobby which i am willing to pay for. This article is about the training i've had over the years. Many of you felt the same success, when the helicopters in the flight simulator sequels finally did what you wanted. All realism sliders up, and you were still in control! What a great feeling that was. Hovering for hours and hours every weeks (yes i have to much time on my hands...), training maneuvers, autorotations, flying sideways, backwards and so on. Helicopter flying is just a fun thing to me.But my first real bad experience was when i tried to upload a video of all what i can do now with those choppers. I called it drooling around, but it combined all that i've learned about flying helicopters in FS98/2000/2002/FLYII/Comanche2+3. You're getting better with the time you practise. I expected that other might share their experiences and flight videos with the community, but the one who offered to put it on his server, sent an email to me, in which he accused me of having cheated. He gave no explanation , even though i wrote an email to him. I put that topic on the forum, including his email he sent to me, but as that opposed to the rules of the forum, the topic was deleted. Let's say i was not too happy with the forum and the people who run it, and i was completely mad at the person who falsely accused me. Whatever. And a few minutes ago, when i was flying in the zone, someone suggested that i should put all my realism sliders up, because i'd be cheating. And here we are again. Here too, the person did not explain to me, how he could actionally see that i was cheating. He said something like i had changed the inertial values or something. I still use the original, unchanged .air file that comes with FS2002 on the Bell 206.I do not claim, that flying a helicopter in FS makes a good real pilot out of you. And i am fairly above those 70% torque suggested for real flight. It's just a simulator. I can push the rudders as far as i want, i can almost rip off the throttle control of my desk. It flies. That's it. And i simply want something like respect to my abilities. I'm not the only one, who had to experience those accusations. Everybody making almost no mistakes is subject to those accusations, because some wise guys know everything better, can do everything better and are educated specialists for analyzing the flights of others.Put the fun back in simming. Stop wasting time in accusations which you can give no proof for. And if you can't do that for yourself, then do that for me. I don't cheat. It's just a game. And someone is always better.I am really sorry if I am annoying some of you, who want just happy topics in here, i wish i could please you. But something else has taken place in flight simming. A part of the real world outside. Your envious neighbours, the mobbing collegues.But now...Keep that ventilator above your head turning!Ballistero

Dear BallisteroCommiserations with your experiences, but I'm NOT surprised.The reality is that MS HAVE introduced various changes in FS 2000 and 2002 to make helo flying easier. With the original FS 98 that wasn't really possible and there was NO way you could make a vid of really stable flying unless you could fly.Nowadays there are a lot fewer people willing to REALLY learn how to fly the Helo. It takes time and effort. It IS a lot easier to turn the realism slider way down. AND such limited pilots do have a distressing tendency to assume that is what everybody ELSE does too!It is a problem we encounter at HoverSafe. It is now very difficult if not impossible to tell if a certification applicant is using a realism modified craft or not. We take the view that if any student wants to submit application vids with LESS than the recommended Aircraft realism setting (maximum 1(one) notch below full)we can't check it , but WHO are they fooling? If they manage to convince themselves they are REALLY an Advanced pilot because they submitted a successful application flying 20% (or less)Realism, well, they have to live with their own conscience, not us.At the end of the day, Ballistero, that is where the real issue lies. If someone calls you a liar over your skills, don't deal with them anymore. It's more than likely they are rather 'dodgy' themselves, in one way or another, and you haven't lost a thing in 'dumping' them. PeterW.Happy Hovering

Ballistero,I have also from time to time been asked to turn up realism settings..I fly with the general settings one click from 100% (the only one that matters on 'copter?) and the others at 80-90%I hope you don't give up multiplaying!I also hope that you hade more fun, and felt more welcome yesterday, when you for a while joined our game "Chopper Aces" at the zone!We are a couple of guys, me, Skydivemike and Catssanova, which you maybe have met from time to time. We are thinking of putting up some kind of "aces academy" (in our own VERY humble opinion (Please don't get us wrong, we're no jedis..;)))This "academy" should host multiplaying games, maybe with a dedicated host, and maybe from time to time recruit people from the zone and of course from this forum.If you're interested, you're very welcome to join us, for some serious multiplaying with choppers!See you tonight at "Chopper Aces"? still at the zone..(://Leif "Still_Hovering" Almberg

Ballistero,Your feelings are understandable. Believe it or not, some level of flak is to be expected as you come into contact with more and more people. I know people who play online a lot (not sims but FPS and MMPOGs) and they always run into players who say they're cheating, running bots, hacks, etc. It goes with the territory.What it boils down to is that you have to be able to tune them out. They're out there and nothing you say will change their mind. You know what you can do and what it took you to get there. So, don't worry about them. Be proud of your accomplishments.I fly helos and hover with the realism set at one click down from 100%. I'm happy with that and for me, it's realistic enough.

Ballestero,The slider settings are really subjective... The flight modelling (air file) on the FS98/FS2000 helicopter contains basic fixed-wing prop and jet aircraft settings - a legacy of which still exists in the Bell206B air files today!There are no newer FS helicopters that do not incorporate these characteristics - mainly because MS has never released model source-codes with their SDK's!In fairness the CFG file (SCALARS) could be modified to create an easier-flying model independant of air-file settings, but what's the point? you have taken the time... (yes, you nust have too much time on your hands! :)) to master the techniques associated with flying helicopters and I am sure your slider settings are relative to the realism that you 'prefer' to fly under - high or low - it doesnt make a difference if you can master the aircraft - the settings can be wherever you want them to be at the time!To accuse you of cheating is like suggesting that your computer is faster or slower than theirs :-lolPersonally, it would be an honour to fly with you :)
