September 8, 200223 yr My French sucks, but I had to post a quick note after finally digging into this bird again. When Antti's Dauphin first came out, I spent a somewhat frustrating couple hours with it, and finally got it to get off the ground! (yay!!???) Since then, I hadn't really fiddled with it until now.Tonight I downloaded the updated version (1.1) and proceeded to really dig into the docs. It took me about an hour to get my controls sorted out and assigned via dauphin.cfg hacks (my setup is: gameport CH Combat Stick, Pro Throttle, and Pro Pedals), and then another hour to figure out the autopilot functions. I was able to do a (mostly) autopilot-coupled approach to the SJC ILS 30L - I say "mostly" because I had the "Glideslope" indicator lit up for a while, but then I couldn't get it to go on again, so I had to manage the glideslope via manual collective input. (I still haven't seen Otto truly control the collective, and yes I have "Collective Coupling" turned on - am I still missing something?.) Then I fiddled around with the auto-hover/auto-land stuff - this thing is amazing. IMO the author deserves some *major* kudos for doing the work to overcome what I had assumed were insurmountable limitations in the FS2002 engine (e.g. no autopilot for helos, and the landing gear bug). I have willingly paid for some aircraft for FS2002 (e.g. L39, Commander 115TC, Cessna 421, and the recent Marchetti SF260), and I believe that the Dauphin's quality and fidelity measure up to those (excellent) payware aircraft. This, and the Bell 47 that came out a while back, exemplify the best helos that we have available to us up to this point.Dave BlevinsKRHV System: Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 mobo *** i7 2700K @ 5gHz w/ Corsair H80 cooler NVidia GTX 570 OC *** 8 GB 1600 Corsair Vengeance DRAM *** CoolerMaster HAF X case System overclocked and tuned for FSX by fs-gs.com Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog stick/throttle & CH Products Pro Pedals Various GoFlight panels *** PFC avionics stack
