Here's why I pre-order

Recommended Posts

Sorry to create a new thread on this one but the other thread was getting too deep. Basically I have been pre-ordering downloadable software for a some time now. I pre-order downloadable software because:1. Discounted prices (even though I'm extremely wealthy it's a conservative thing)2. Trust in a company's previous works (trust is still a commodity)3. To beat the rush and avoid "download hell" (never have I gotten software and ran back to forums screaming "I got it, I got it". I leave that for the true lunatics. I quietly sit and enjoy fine works of artists too numerous to mention in this post)4. Support for the flight sim community (I know this may sound cheesy but just ask those who have seen my staunch support for this community around here in the past. I have done such things as re-purchased an upgrade that I could have gotten for free. Such as FSMeteo, FSTraffic, and others. I have also purchased three copies of FlyII just to help bolster a company I believed in)5. Because I can (It's a free country and I have a right to put my money where my mouth is). So when I criticize a company's bad practices I do so with the knowledge that I have something invested before I open my big mouth and waste my time and other's just complaining)I hope this clears up why "us idiots" would pre-purchase downloadable software.Regards,

That is good for you. I am glad you pre-order. It is great when developers offer pre-order to customers. It has it's good points and bad points.....

Thanks Jonas. I hope you enjoy your trip to KSAT and Monterrey. I have flown all around the southern portion of Texas but have been a little afraid to leave US airspace, especially after 9/11. I was planning a trip to see my old friend and CFII who relocated to Winnipeg, Canada but have to catch up on flight restrictions when flying in and out of the ADIZ. Have a nice flight,

But why would you be afraid to leave US airspace since 9/11-- It was in US airspace that the events of 9/11 occurred. It seems to me to be a little more logical to be afraid of flying within US airspace - not the other way around - or am I missing something in the cross-cultural translation . Barry - just trying to understand US thinking on matters of current importance.

Hi Barry. Being a new pilot I'm a little cautious about flying through ADIZ having never done so before. It has nothing to do with flying in airspaces other that the US. Ordinarily I would be a little apprehensive flying in and out of the country due to the stringent flight requirements when approaching US airspace or another country's airspace and since 9/11 I am only guessing that things are a little more stringent in this area. My fears I'm sure are somewhat unfounded and not based on current facts or conditions but never-the-less... Sadly, ignorance sometimes leads to fear. There are many reported cases here in the US of GA pilots being escorted by armed F-16's for unknowingly violating TFR's directly related to 9/11. These kind of things lead to paranoia.Regards,
