Trans Atlantic Flight Planning

Recommended Posts

Guest Murf

Hi folks,I've been flying alot in US/Canada and I think I'm ready to take the plunge and try a Trans Atlantic flight. Problem is I'm not sure how to file my plans or the waypoints to use when navigating the NATs. Any help or flight plan examples would be appreciated. Thanks,

Hey. well first off, you are the lucky 401st post for me :-hah. but, to answer your question..how do I file a flight plan, just add in your Entry point-NAT Track points- Exit point. its quite simple. but if you are looking for maps, go here.for the diagram-http://www.vatsim-uk.net/vatsim-uk/OCA/maps.aspfor the actual routing(no diagram)-http://www.vatsim-uk.net/vatsim-uk/OCA/nat.aspBTW- NATS do change EVERYDAY, so be aware that you pick the right one. if you fly with real weather(makes your planning more real in a sense) then go to this site.- http://aviationweather.noaa.gov/ you can get updated weather at certain times for basically any part of the world. and make sure you pick the right time of day(UTC!! not local) and for the atlantic. use this link http://aviationweather.noaa.gov/hilvl/ its mainly for the cruzing altitudes. well I hope I was of some help to you bud. if you need any more help just drop a line @ a500mhz@hotmail.com or on AIM- born2fly86..BTW, here is one FLight plan I use when I do that atlantic hop from EGLL-KIAD or other European Destinations. BEWARE- IT IS LONG! It is UA 951 (EBBR-KIAD) This was made with FSdispatch, great utility for the 767PIC :-)----------------------------------------------------------------------EBBR TO KIAD 767/J M78/F IFR 25/07/02NONSTOP COMPUTED 1319 FOR ETD 1350Z PROGS 0000ADF N648UA LBSUA951 FL 390 *** FIXED WINDS AND TEMPERATURES HAVE BEEN USED***25JUL02 EBBR-KIAD T/B763/J ACCEPTED:........SUPPLY ....... Hi!Thanks for the reply. There is a lot of info there to digest. I visited the sites for the NATs. Is there a site I can go to to tell me which NAT is being used today? I fly with the real weather using FSMETEO. I also use PIC767 and would be interested in that FSDispatch program you mentioned. Is it freeware or commercial? Where can I get it?Also, how would I enter the NAT waypoints in the FMC? (ie. 52/50 54/40 55/30 55/20 55/15 55/10)Thanks for the help! :-)

>Is there a site >I can go to to tell me which NAT is being used today? http://www.natroutes.glideslope.de/Just pick one of the current NAT: Not only one is active today, but 5 eastbound (Track V -> Track Z) and 7 westbound and southbound (A -> G).These tracks change everyday with high-level winds.>Also, how would I enter the NAT waypoints in the FMC? (ie. >52/50 54/40 55/30 55/20 55/15 55/10) >52/50= 52N050W = 5250N; 5450N, 5530N...Yohann, LFLL

well, it does take a few tries to get it down right. BUT. if you use the PSS airbus panel for the POSKY 330 for example. you CANNOT enter NAT points in like N52W050 you have to enter them in like N5250 I believe. but with the PSS 777v2 panel it really doesn't matter. well I will give you the link when I get back home. so like 1800 GMT. I'll be able to give more info then. Good luck!
