combining two (more) airports into one ?

Recommended Posts

I want to reduce number of entries in my scenery.cfg file and I was thinking whether I could combine a couple of airports into one entry. For example putting all *.bgl files into the single scenery folder and doing the same with texture folders. What do I have to watch for ? Files that have same names ? Or if there are Flatten and Exclude statements how do I combine those ?Thanks for any insights.Michael J.[link:jdtllc.com]http://jdtllc.com/images/RCsupporter.jpg

I keep all the sceenerys I download by the same author in the same directory. originally I tryed what your asking with no problems, just added flatten switches to the apropriate sceenery header, installed everything in the same directory. What led me away from that was mismatched textures. I had buildings with aircraft texturs andjust a compleate mess. it was obvious some textures with the same name were diffrent textures. so those two scenery additions could not exist in the same subfolders.Trying the method of keeping all of an authors work in one folder I have not had the texture problems or any other problems to speak of.Having FunGrey_Wolf

>just added flatten switches to the >apropriate sceenery headerNot sure what you mean here. I know that Flatten switches go to scenery.cfg. Can you have more than one Flatten/Exclude switch under the same scenery entry. What do you mean by 'header' ??And finally I am not sure what's your final verdict. For the same author is OK but for different authors is not OK or just the opposite ?Thanks.Michael J.

Hi Michael, you can have more than one flatten switch in one scenery.cfg layer, you just have to assign a unique number to them:Flatten.0=Flatten.1=Flatten.2=...I

Uwer is right with the flatten switches, (Area.170) <--- What I meant by HeaderTitle=Naji's Bush SceneryLocal=ADDON SCENERYNaji's Bush SceneryRemote=Active=TRUERequired=FALSELayer=134(flatten swiches here)Flatten.0=Flatten.1=Flatten.2=(If any)All of my scenery created by Naji I install in the same folder. and no one elses scenery in that folder. In all I have several dozen bush scenery addons by five diffrent authors so far, so I have five folders and five added scenery areas.I did recently have a problem that I forgot to mention. every time I loaded FS2k2 it would go through the proses of adding new scenery. I uninstalled all my added on scenery using the delete area button in the scenery library, then added all of my scenery again. In the end I also freed up a few hundred megs worth of duplicate texture filesHaving funHope I was more clear this time.Grey_Wolf
