Hi,I'm not a pilot, so I may be wrong, but from what I gather, polar routes are new each day (depending on weather and winds) and are not fixed routes for the same reason and thanks to less traffic. It seems that they are pretty much company specific routes. Since there is less traffic there, planes can fly with less restrictions.Hope this helps,Francois

Hi,Try a search on this forum, there may be some routes there, I'm not sure. Otherwise, I don't think you will something similar to the NAT routes, as they are specific to airlines (each airline may alter it a bit depending on the way they operate their planes) and these routes changes significantly depending on the winds.Francois

Hi Ben,Polar routes are not published like the NATs or PACOTs, so you can just file the route you want. Here's an example of a Polar route (I believe it was KLAX-UUEE by an Aeroflot B763):... DENTU J517 YBE LAT1 6430N10000W DCT YYH DCT YIO DCT 74N060W 75N040W 76N020W DCT EXITA UP190 INSEP ...Regards,Koen

Ben,I think dispatchers would create those flights. Ask TOCART, he may be able to come up with some polar routes!!!Actually, I'm interested by EGLL-KLAX (I did it 3 weeks ago as a real pax!!)Francois

Hi Phil, thanks !Are the waypoints of these routes (pts s, 1, 2 ...) fixed ?Or are these only entry / exit points ?For example, if I am posting my flightplan to ATC, do I haveto post just PTS 1, and the controller knows what I am doing ?Or is it only the entry /exit point and the additional waypoints have to be posted as well ?Do you have any idea, where to read (books/internet) something about the rules of PTS ?Thanks a lotBen

hello ben, same as nat but fixedso contrary to nat there is no change you have to know the route as for any airways....about a book or read certainly from atc or eurocontrol or frol norway but what i ve seen is from polar plotting charts giving the airways and some rules but remember in the far north better to have four than two engines even the latest one...diversion with 3 emergency with one...truly yoursphilhttp://forums.avsim.com/dcboard.php?az=sho...g_id=1512&page=

Jeppesen AT-5(HI) depicts the polar track structure. They are fixed routes. The track info is off an expired chart so some/all points may need some updating.There are 10 fixed tracks in Reykjavik CTA and Sondrestrom FIR and 5 fixed tracks through Bodo OCA, with the 5 tracks in Bodo OCA being a continuation of the PTS tracks going thru Reykjavik CTA and Sondrestrom FIR.You would refer to the routes as "PTS x" if you fly the entire route otherwise you'd fly a random route.The polar track system is effective at and above 18,000ft.PTS 1 (joins ACA SIERRA and UN615) SINVU (N76 51.6 W075 36.4) THT (N76 32.5 W068 14.5) Thule VOR 74P1 (N74 40.0 W040 00.0) 69P1 (N69 40.0 W020 00.0) 66PR (N66 00.0 W012 30.0) MATIK (N61 00.0 W008 04.0)PTS 2 (joins ACA ROMEO and UH70) ROGSO (N80 10.9 W069 00.0) 78P2 (N78 05.0 W040 00.0) 73P2 (N73 05.0 W020 00.0) 66P2 (N66 00.0 W008 30.0) GONUT (N61 00.0 W004 35.0)PTS 3 (joins ACA QUEBEC and UM725) LT (N82 31.6 W062 12.7) Alert NDB 80P3 (N80 13.0 W030 00.0) QUASI (N78 00.0 W018 51.3) 74P3 (N74 54.0 W010 00.0) SECON (N68 00.0 000 00.0) EDURA (N63 00.0 E003 43.0) FLS (N60 18.7 E005 12.7) Flesland VORPTS 4 (joins ACA PAPA and Trondheim VOR) PELRI (N85 00.0 W060 00.0) 82P4 (N82 28.0 W020 00.0) PRIMO (N76 10.0 000 00.0) ODESU (N70 00.0 E007 00.0) GISOX (N67 02.3 E009 03.6) IBOLO (N65 45.0 E009 47.4) TRM (N63 31.6 E010 53.4) Trondheim VORPTS N (goes between North Pole and Trondheim VOR) stops at North Pole NPOLE (N90 00.0 000 00.0) NARVI (N82 00.0 E011 00.0) LABAR (N75 00.0 E011 00.0) KOSEK (N70 00.0 E011 00.0) NORVA (N68 05.8 E010 57.7) KERAL (N65 45.0 E010 55.3) TRM (N63 31.6 E010 53.4) Trondheim VORPTS O (joins ACA OSCAR and Trondheim VOR) OVBES (N87 00.0 W060 00.0) 83PO (N83 36.0 W010 00.0) ORGAN (N79 59.0 000 00.0) KERUN (N74 44.5 E006 00.0) GOPAR (N70 00.0 E008 43.0) OGPAR (N67 25.3 E009 43.5) GIPEK (N65 45.0 E010 16.1) TRM (N63 31.6 E010 53.4) Trondheim VORPTS P (joins ACA PAPA and UP622) PELRI (N85 00.0 W060 00.0) 81PP (N81 42.0 W020 00.0) 78PP (N78 51.0 W010 00.0) FORUM (N72 23.0 000 00.0) ADOBI (N68 30.0 E003 00.0) ABADA (N64 15.9 E005 17.9) VIG (N62 33.1 E006 02.1) Vigra VORPTS Q (joins ACA QUEBEC and UH71) LT (N82 31.6 W062 12.7) Alert NDB 80PQ (N80 51.0 W040 00.0) 76PQ (N76 26.0 W020 00.0) 70PQ (N70 59.0 W010 00.0) 6605N (N66 00.0 W005 00.0) LIRKI (N61 00.0 W001 51.0)PTS R (joins ACA ROMEO and UN615) ROGSO (N80 10.9 W069 00.0) 77PR (N77 30.0 W040 00.0) 71PR (N71 20.0 W020 00.0) 66PR (N66 00.0 W012 30.0) MATIK (N61 00.0 W008 04.0)PTS S (joins ACA SIERRA and UN610) one-way from SINVU to 6110N SINVU (N76 51.6 W075 36.4) THT (N76 32.5 W068 14.5) Thule VOR 7440N (N74 00.0 W040 00.0) 6820N (N68 00.0 W020 00.0) 6110N (N61 00.0 W010 00.0)The tracks in Canadian Arctic Control Area are:While in Canadian Arctic Control Area FL280 and below is uncontrolled airspace.
