November 20, 200619 yr Hi!I'm flying KORD to KJFK, approach via LENDY5 STAR. According to the approach plate you should cross LENDY at FL190 at 250 kts. After LENDY you get vectored by ATC to RW04L/R. How far do they take you out to make that decent to 2000 ft to intercept the loc/gs? What's a normal decent rate for this approach in the real world? Anyone has some more details about LENDY5 to RW04L/R?Thanx!David Bernard
November 20, 200619 yr Hi David,I saw the same yesterday during my arrival from Hamburg (EDDH).Well , I think on the way to La Guardia you have to make 4000ft or 5000ft and there after continue on a present heading for the approach sequence. But, i think the reason for that altitude is, that there are departures out of EWR, La Guardia and JFK. Regards PITAR
November 21, 200619 yr Fly online with VATSIM. Or if no ATC is online, depart lendy heading 130, start descent to 14,000, join DPK-221, right hdg 220. Descend to 7,000, make right turns to join localiser (remain 10 miles or more from the field as departures will be closer into the field).www.nyartcc.org 10700k / Gigabyte 3060
November 21, 200619 yr Are there no Initial Approach Procedures to get aircraft from the end of the STAR on to the extended centreline for an instrument approach without radar control? If not, how is 100% availability of radar control guaranteed? Gerry Howard
