Thanks to Brian Gladden for Cessna 140

In the AVSIM library today is a great little plane from the late 40's. The Cessna 140 really looks beautifully accurate and seems to fly well. Also included is a lot of information of the history of this plane many of us old foggies learned to love. Many thanks Brian for a delightful bit of history that still lives on. Excellent freeware to treasure!

Brian,Incredible...what a find! Attached are a couple of recent photos of our Cessna 120 (upgraded to near 140 spec). My father bought the airplane when I was 3 years old (I'm now 49), so I have many, many hours in the airplane...and adding still more. It just doesn't get any better than this.Thanks again for a beautiful model (458 in the photo - prior to the current paint - carried the same polished aluminum and striping, but in green).Leon Seale

I only have 1.1 hours in a C140 but do remember looking out the wing to check the attitude on approach to landing in it. Once up it flew like a C150 or C152. It is the only ac I have flown that did not have flaps and hence a different attitude on approach.Jeff, the restoration on your C120 looks better than a 1999 C172SP I've flown !Great work !:)

Hi Jeff,Beautiful airplane you have there. There's just something special about the lines of the 120/140 that seem timeless. We've had ours for nearly 47 years, five generations, and countless hours of fun. And we hope to have many more.I hope you enjoy yours as much as we have ours.Leon

Thanks for the comments. :-) Although, now that I have reread my post, I think it may be a tad misleading. I don't own the plane, just the pictures. ;-) The plane was on display, along with 60 others, during an Open House at our local airport, KPTK.She is a beautifully restored 1946 C140. There was also an all polished version sitting next to her, but all I have is a picture of the tail section because of the number of people hanging around the cockpit. :-)I definitely agree that there is something nostalgic about those C140 lines. Thanks Guys :-) this project has been a labor of love over the last few weeks. I will be taking a few days off before diving back in. If anyone has a good set of 3 views of a Ryan Navion.... I could use em'Brian

I'm still hoping you dust off your Lancair and bring it up to FSDS 2, along with the suggestions I made in the A/C design forum....Have you worked with GMAX? For a beginner, what is better--FSDS 2, or GMAX?-John

Nice pics, Jeff!Wow! That panel is flawless. It looks as though the lettering on the panel is not decals but has been silkscreened on there. Fine! One of my flying buddies had a Navion for a little while...called it "Big Red". What was kind of cool is that the rear seat is slightly higher than the front. It was easy to see everything even when banished to the rear. Joe

I tried GMax........ I couldn't even make a box.... I admit I had some trouble when I first started FSDS also but now that I'm using it I wouldn't use anything else. Heck I'm still learning about stuff in FSDS. It took Dave Eckert's door tutorial for me to realize how to use the "hide" command... and to think I've had the program for almost 2 1/2 years and I didn't know about that feature.... DOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!Brian
