FS2002 Flight Planner

Recommended Posts

Guest Jet

Prepared a flight in the flight planner generator last night for San Diego to Palm Springs.Even though I requested low alt V routes it sent me direct at a cruise altitude of 3,000. Obviously below the mountain range with peaks to 7,500 observed on my charts.1. Is this a bug w/in FS2002 (no regard to terrain clearance)?2. In real life, in IFR, conrollers are responsible for Terrain and traffic avoidance...correct? Would the responsibility for Terrain Clearance be that of the pilot when preparing an flight Plan and choosing a cruise altitude? Thanks,Greg

It's definitely a bug. The FS2K2's flight planner also happens to have a bad sense of direction :D. A lot of times, it'll take you one way and then turn you around the other way. That's why I always edit the flight plan in regards to waypoints and altitudes. There's a great freeware out there (the name slips me at the moment) that adjusts everything.Steven
