January 22, 200323 yr Hello:Please let me suggest an useful improvement of ActiveSky WXre.I'm using FS and many addons (like ActiveSky WXre) for training my IFR skills, because to fly in adverse weather conditons is an essential training to real pilots.Although ActiveSky allows to write 'custom' Metars, I found write 'bad weather' by hand in ActiveSky WXre into my flight route and destination airport very hard and time consuming, nothing to say that the results isn't the expected. My suggestion is a module in ActiveSky WX that allows a more 'visual' orientation and automation to personalize the weather using, say, buttons, check boxes, radio-buttons, text boxes, options combo and drop-down menus, etc. Better, this module would allow that the user to define a type of climate for each leg of the route and destination.I think that this will turn ActiveSky WXre easiest to use and weather personalization fast and pleasant, allowing more experimentations and variations, greatly improving the pilot skills. Thank youValter - Brazil
January 23, 200323 yr As an alternative, look at the METAR encoder on weathergraphics.com.The link is:http://www.weathergraphics.com/cgi-bin/fetch.cgi?encoder.exeIt is a graphical interface that you can use to create your own METAR strings. About the only problem I found with it is it does not allow visibility in fractions, but that is something you can edit yourself.Enjoy,Rick.
January 25, 200323 yr Hi, RickThank you very much for your indication. That is what I had in mind. A graphical interface for multiple METAR variables.I think also that ActiveSky could incorporate this idea.Valter
