**** RC5 Avail, Deadline for bug reports 5/8/03!

Recommended Posts

Hi!!RC5 v1.8 is available for public beta (you must be an existing 1.x wxRE user). Link is http://www.hifisim.com/wxre18updaterc5.zipThis fixes a problem with offline winds process and leading zeros in the station ID, causing lack of proper winds during offline use for certain areas of the world. Performance for online winds download was also worked on and should be improved slightly. This should be the last on the list, and assuming no new bug reports come in, official release will happen sometime this weekend. If you have any bugs to report, please do so right away. Thank you for your help!!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Damian,Quick report on some anomailes in 1.8 (RC4 and 5):On startup I get the following error message "Error! You must have FSUIPC version 2.95 or later installed etc." I have the latest version (2.79) installed...If I click quickly on OK - ActiveSky wxre loads and runs normally. If I am slow I get the second error message "Run-time error '401' Can't show non-modal form when modal form is displayed" and when I click OK - ActiveSky wxre does not load...A clue to the above FSUIPC message is that the first 2 lines of the "Status" screen show no info for the "FS Version" or the "FSUIPC Version". I believe it did in the 1.7 version and I never got the FSUIPC error message before RC4 or 5.Hope you can solve this riddle before the final release :-batCheers,Claus

Hi Claus I will respond to this post instead of your e-mail..Are you SURE you have the latest FSUIPC? I would bet that you have installed some kind of add-on that auto-installed and overwrote your existing fsuipc.dll file with an older one. Has happened at least 30 times in the past with various users and they all ended up having the wrong version due to an add-on installation. Please double check.Your runtime error sounds like it is related. If you have in old version of FSUIPC that doesn't understand some of the newer memory addresses you can get these errors.I am assuming you installed the add-on in question (that messed your FSUIPC) sometime between RC3 and RC4 :) Hope this helps.. -Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

BINGO!!! That was it... Thank You Damian and my apologies for perhaps giving you a couple of grey hairs :-jumpyThe culprit was an update of FSRealTime that installed an old version of FSUIPC.dll (December 2001) (Wonder what possessed them to include that in their package) :-madOh well...all is well that ends well....Cheers

UPDATE:A problem with RC5 found (remains) with processing of winds aloft in OFFLINE mode for stations at higher elevations. This is being worked on now, expect RC6 in a few hours..-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table
