seeing weather in other areas?

Hello. I'm wondering if someone can answer a quick question for me regarding ActiveSky 2002 v1.5 (the free version).Is it possible to see the weather in other areas besides where you are currently at? It seems as thought the weather map in FS2002 is not updated with the weather that is grabbed by ActiveSky.So, let's say you want to fly in some nasty weather... How do you find it? You can't use the map and click on areas to see where it might be raining, etc.Any help on this would be appreciated.Thanks!

There is a good site here: http://awfulweather.com/that will identify worldwide nasty weather for you. It was quite helpful for me whe using the free version.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

There is no weather map to find nasty conditions. However, you can type in an airport's IACO code and get it's latest weather METAR.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Is there a website that shows radar from where ActiveSky (or ActiveSky wxRE) gets it's data from?I know that ActiveSky's weather vs. FS2002's built-in downloadable weather vary greatly. Why is this? I'm assuming one is obviously more accurate than the other. Where do both get their data from?I'm sure it's to late for FS2004 but I'd like to see a radar overlay in the weather screen. You would be able to see from a distance what part of the country is doing what weather-wise. Just a thought.

So according to that site, their conditions are at least 90 min old. How often is this info updated and how does it compare to FS2002's timing of it's built-in weather?

All of this information is available in both the Documentation of wxRE and on the aviationweather.gov site.Reports are made every 60 minutes (usually) and sometimes more often if there are rapid changes occuring at that station. NOAA collects the data and makes it available as it is received.
