I have recently reinstalled FS2k2 in preparation for installing ultimate traffic, however now that I have reinstalled wxRE and updated to version 1.8, I am receiving the following error: "Error reading wxre.ini - an offline folder may not be set correctly." I've tried to edit the ini directly, but I've found three copies of it on my hard drive (my documents, common files, and in the active sky folder). Should all of these copies of wxRE.ini be there? Also, I've read in another post that allowing an online cycle to download, saving my settings, and restarting wxRE should resolve the problem. Is that correct? Thanks!sg

SG,1. Keep the .ini file in your AS folder and delete the others.2. You are correct about the error message. V1.8 has a bit of a different offline file format. D'load a new set and the message should go away.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Hi this also could be a failed update install due to the AS folder not being set correctly. If you continue having problems suggest uninstall all ASwxRE, reinstall base version, then install 1.8 and make sure you choose your proper wxRe folder. If you are using the boxed Just Flight version you will need to download 1.8 from their site as there are slight differences. Hope that helps!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Thanks to both of you. I did continue to have problems, and I think I've got it working now, so I'll tell you what I did for your reference.I had absolutely no problems with FS2k2 and AS when I first installed them, and had been using these two together for several months. I was running low on disk space so I uninstalled a lot of games, defragged, and put FS2k2 back on. I recently purchased ultimate traffic as well, and since I had all kinds of repainted planes, etc, I thought a clean install would be the way to go. However, when I reinstalled AS, I continually got the "error reading wxre.ini" error. I allowed an entire set of online files to download, quit the program, restarted, but still got the error. I found that three copies of the ini existed on my HD, so I deleted all but the one in the AS folder. Restarted, still got the error. I tried various permutations on downloading online and offline files to no avail. I ended up uninstalling, deleted all the copies of wxre.ini (now four) on my HD, ran RegClean and removed all reference to wxre, rebooted. Reinstalled to the default directory, ran version 1.00 once to download a set of offline files. Updated straight to 1.80, downloaded a new set of offline files, and now all looks to work perfectly. Not sure what happened, but it's over.sg

One other interesting observation: I cannot run wxRE simply by clicking on the exe file. If it do, I get the ini error. If I run the .lnk shortcut, it works fine. Interesting.

That is because you have to run with the working directory set to your wxRE folder (as set in the icon)..-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table
