Mixed up voice

Recommended Posts

Guest RONVKING

Hi,Been using 1.86 since I purchased wxRE and I've noticed that when I'm flying in the UK (my homeland) and the vis is less than 9999 the voice reports on 122.00 can't cope the it, not can it seem to get to grips with any rain or thunderstorms. Sometimes it just says the letters, other times it just bleeps which I've found out means it can't find a wav file to say the text.Tried a reinstall with no change. Anyone got any suggestions? I was wondering if I made up my own wav files and labelled it in the same manner as suggested for for airport names would that work?Rgds Ron

Ron,Give it a shot. The terms rain, thunderstorms in the vicinity, light, moderate, and heavy are there so you should get a callout for rain or thunderstorms. But it depends on how the METAR is showing them. I'm not sure how the voice part is coded in order to link the METAR symbol with which wav. file to play however.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Hi Ron,I am using it OK here right now, v1.86 with no problems in that area.. what was the METAR string you had which gave incorrect voice? If it happens again just let me know what the METAR string is (cut and paste) and I will try that one myself.. thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Hi Ron,Thanks for the troubleshooting.wxRE simply uses the actual visibility METAR value (in statue miles), regardless of where you are in the world. There may be a problem with the value conversion affecting those vis values you used which leads to a "ding" before the actual visibility readback. I will investigate some more. The Papa Alpha Romeo Seirra is your cue that a parse error has occured (PARSe error) and your current METAR is invalid. I will work on better handling of this condition for 2.0's voice engine.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table
