Hi Damian. Wonder if you could give me an unbiased opinion ! I've been a happy user of FSMeteo for 2 years or more but I'm unable to get any information about an upgrade to 2004. I've looked on Marcs site and mailed him but had no reply and his site has no mention of 2004. If he intends to produce an upgrade then I'll hang on but if not then I'll be purchasing ActiveSky either this evening or in the morning. Any advice or ideas ? Cheers

Hi Damian,Just wantewd to let you know that I had a problem installing v1.9. I tried to install it and kept getting bsod. The error message was "windows protection error" and then the computer would lock up. Finally got it installed after the fifth time. Works great except for the installation.Ed

Hi there..Well I'm not sure I'm capable of giving an unbiased opinion :) But I can tell you that I plan on keeping ActiveSky as up-to-date as possible for as long as possible. FS2004 is now the focus of development, and I will do whatever I can to ensure ActiveSky wxRE works as seemlessly as possible with it. Hopefully some other wxRE user who've "upgraded" from the competition can share their opinions as well. Hope that helps!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Cloud Tiger - I stopped using FSMeteo a long time ago - wxRE feels more realistic to me in the way it forms the weather and the support here is top notch. There's a load of great features FSMeteo doesn't have too like the visibility settings in rain/snow etc... One of my favorite addons for FS.Damian - does this work in FS2002 as well? The stupid stores here in Tucson won't break the street date on 2004 so I have to wait until Tuesday...Ryan

As a user of ActiveSky, I love it. I fly with it 99.9% of the time. Adds a challenge to the flight. I have seen and flwon in the new FS2004 weather. Visually it's impressive as hell. Though the other night I was flying thorugh what looked like a dozy of a strom, rain, lightning, variable winds, big thick dark clouds....yet the ride was smooth as glass. None of the bumps, yanks and constant corrections to keep in the air and on course that I experience with ActiveSky. I'm sure hoping the the new ActiveSky blends it's realistic weather engine with the stunning visuals from FS2k4 to give a realistic and impressive weather environment. Not to mention the voice atis is great!! Just tune your radio to 122.00 and active sky delivers a real atis over your speakers.

Hi Ed,First report of this... any others who have experienced this? Did you just keep retrying after BSOD and it eventually worked or was there some other change you made to get it to install ok? Any help is appreciated.. Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Hi Damian,Each time I got the error, I would have to reboot the computer(locked up). After the fourth time and before I ran the setup program, I checked the directory that I installed ActiveSky into and checked the dates. The exe was dated the the 24th, so I decided to try and run it. Immediately got a file corrupt error. I next ran the setup again and this time it installed ok. After each restart, I did not run any other programs except Powerdesk which is a file manager that I use. I am using WinMe, but this should not make any difference.Hope this helps,Ed PS,I was updating from version v1.70

Hi,I'll be releasing it this afternoon unless any problems come up in the next few hours.... The install problem has only been reported once, so I think this is isolated and not an issue.Any more comments? How are the transitions working for all of you? All weather parameters getting set OK? How is performance? Any and all input is appreciated!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Hi Ed,The file corrupt must have been due to the BSOD during the update attempt. As to why it was crashing and wouldn't setup correctly until you attempted to run the exe... very strange, but I think it is isolated to your machine at this point since no other reports. Let me know if you have any other problems. Can anyone report a successful install on WinMe?-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table
