Visibilty Problems using WREX 1.9 and FS9

Recommended Posts

Quick question:I have just set up Fs9. I have your updated wxre 1.9 installed and I am using FSUIPC 3.03 registered. I live in Orange County California, so this morning I set up a flight out of John Wayne. Metar reported visibility at 8 miles. When I started up FS9, I clear the skies (as you suggest), loaded up KSNA and then start wxre. After the weather was updated, it showed the low visibility in the metar, but in FS9 visibility was unlimited (I could see the San Bernadino Mts in the distance, temp and pressure were correct). When I restarted fs9, and used the internal (FS9) weather download system, I got the low visibility setting. Also when I restarted fs9 and use the updated FSMETEO (version 6; which I purchased some time ago, but have been using Active Sky since it first came out), I also get the low visibility setting in FS9. Your program has worked flawlessly in FS2002, am I doing something wrong?Any suggestions? If you need more info please let me know.ThanksJim

Hi Jim,Thanks for the report..I checked KSNA (my home airport too!) and got the same problem. As a preliminary test, I changed the vis (via custom write) from 7 (reported) to 8 and the vis kicked in. I restarted and did the same from 7 to 6. Kicked in again just fine. Something is amiss with the FSUIPC communications.. since all is well with 2k2 I think it is something in FSUIPC, but I'm not sure yet. I will do some more testing and report back..-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Same problem here when flying at KSAV. METAR says Vis 10miles, FS9 is at unlimited. I did a few refreshes and still no luck. The weather just went clear twice too. No gradual transistion or anything, just poof, clear weather. After about 15 seconds wxRE switched it back to the broken skies and winds.Chris

Chris,Make sure "Disable Cloud Transitions" is checked. FS04 is not doing a real good job with gradual transitions. Damian is working on it, per his answer above.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

I saw that Damien is working on a problem relating to WREx and FS2004. I still have the ancient FS2002 and assume that this is the same problem:-I have just updated FSUIPC to version 3? (the new one) and promptly loaded FS2002 to my home airport (Plymouth, UK). Started WREx V1.9 and there I was sitting on the runway in thick fog.A look out of the window showed no fog, so I checked the WREx Metar which was:EGHD 031505z 200005kt 0500 FG BKN000 22/13 Q1022I then checked the NOAA website (Which I believe WREx uses)which gave the Metar as:EGHD 031505z 20005kt cavok 22/13 Q1022 .I take it that this is the same fault ?Regards,Pete

Pete,I don't think so looking at your METARs. Your AS METAR shows fog and low vis and that is what you got. The NOAA METAR shows CAVOK and that is what you got, just in a different form. Can't say for sure why you didn't have fog outside your window! Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
