Just another new user seeking clarification. In FSMeteo, you can specify a date and time for METAR download. Am I correct in assuming that ActiveSky only allows you to specify a time in the current 24 hour cycle, or can you get a weather set from, for example, last June? Thanks

Geoff,No, only the latest 24 hour cycle. That is a limitation of the NOAA servers. If you rename files though, it is possible to archive them for later use.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

One final question. When I set up for a flight (offline - EGLL TO KLAX), the Weather Briefing informed me that the "winds aloft will be simulated". How can I get the relevant details to allow me to plan my fuel accurately?

Geoff,Winds data will not show up on the Briefing Screen. Go back to the main screen and departure winds aloft will be shown there. That gives a starting point.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Hi there,You should use www.aviationweather.gov, International Flight Folder. There are winds aloft charts (World Forecast Model) there that you can plan with. Be advised that since there are some gaps in coverage with the RAOBS winds system, (where winds are simulated) some points of your flight may not correspond to the forecasts. Sometimes its pretty close, other times it can be way off. Sort of realistic, but a limitation in wxRE. AS2 uses the WFS data directly (the same used to plot those charts) so there will be much more accurate winds planning capability, not to mention complete global coverage. Hope that helps!-Damian
