Minimum System Requirements

Recommended Posts

Hi all,Just a heads up... you will not get "good" performance with FS2004 and AS2 with a very low end system. While this is certainly not a surprise for most, some people may not realize this, as I was reminded in a recent support thread. I will be placing a MINIMUM/RECOMMENDED system spec label on any future product documentation. For now this is planned:MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:Pentium 1GHZ or equivelent256MB RamRECOMMEND SYSTEM:Pentium 2GHZ or higher512MB Ram +SOUNDCARD:To listen to Voice Flighwatch/ATIS: A soundcard capable of multiple .wav playback (to test your card, try playing a .wav file while FS2004 is running). Most cards are fine.It is no doubt that AS(any version) and FS(any version) push your PC to the limit when they release on "today's" hardware. Such is the price of dealing with huge amounts of data and trying to do so much with it. I don't see this trend doing anything but getting "worse" so my advice, if you want realism in your weather environment (and entire flight environment for that matter!), is that you should be running on a fairly high-end system. I wouldn't recommend FS2004 or AS2 to ANYONE with less than a 1GHZ processor.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

:( :( B) :( :(Understood, but I sure hate to hear it. My poor ol' Pent III/800 just can't cut it anymore. Hey Damian, you don't happen to have a spare P4/3.2 lying around, do ya? ;)KP
