Why use AS 1.9 over FS9 Built in Weather?

Recommended Posts

I have been wondering this now especially since there seems to be some issues with AS1.9 on FS9. But in general, why would you want to use AS over the built in weather in FS9?Is not the weather engine in FS9 good enough to generate weather for flight simming?

Hi,1) The FS weather source is not as complete in coverage and is more behind in data updates.2) wxRE sports features such as wake turbulence, TAF processing with integrated dynamic weather, VATSIM mode, OFFLINE mode, Custom METAR writes, voice ATIS and Flightwatch, RC3 compatibility, Long-range FSFLightMax compatibility, etc, etc, etc... See our site for a detailed feature list.FS9's own weather is fine for a majority of casual simmers. For those who want more accurate wx and more control of their wx environment, wxRE is highly recommended. Those "issues" you speak of concern wind transitions and visibility. These are common to all add-ons AND default weather in many cases. To solve these "issues" we have been working for months and will present our solution in AS2, the next wx-addon from HiFi.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table
