Weird and sudden changes

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,Just now I experienced something really weird. I was on climb out in the PMDG NG for a flight from ESSA to LFPG. Approx FL300, M0.781. I had a headwind of 210@40 approx. My own heading was 225.Weather provided by ActiveSky wxRE 1.91. I was just looking at the AS main screen wondering why I still had ESSA METAR station providing wx data but I was closer to ESKN station when suddenly I got an FMC message stating CHECK MCP ALT. I checked my current ALT and to my surprise it showed FL570!!! Speed had increased to 438 KIAS and my headwind had turned into a tailwind of 000@25!!! I paused the sim and saw that in that moment AS had changed METAR station from ESSA to ESKN. I also did change one setting in AS but that was earlier. I enabled the option "Use FS2004 wx writes"Ok, that's that for my observations during this little event. Also see attached pictures.I have posted this in the PMDG beta mail list as well as herehttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/46205.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/46207.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/46209.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/46212.jpgCheers,

Extream wind shifts are due to the different manner in which FS04 and wxRE exchange wins data!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Thanks Jim,But this still doesn't explain the sudden transistion from FL300 to FL570. What could be inducing that?Cheers,

Jim; Are you telling us that extreme wind shifts (some of which result in stalls or loss of control) are just a fact of life with ActiveSky and FS9? So we should revel in the realism of actual winds...except during those times when the winds shift massively and unrealistically and cause us to fall out of the virtual sky? Is there a way to have AS update the clouds only and leave the winds alone?RegardsBob>Extream wind shifts are due to the different manner in which>FS04 and wxRE exchange wins data!>>Hope this helps,>Jim>ActiveSky Support
