Assigned visual apprch to airport reporting 1/4 vis and 100 ft overcast

Featured Replies

Hello all, I recently purchased AS v1.90 and really enjoy the program. Anyway, last night on a flight from KMSP to KMCW I was assigned vectors for the visaul approach to KMCW. The only problem is KMCW was reporting, and in fact was, 1/4 visibily and 100 ft overcast with indefinite ceiling; in otherwords, extremely unfavorable weather for a visual approach. Is ATC and Active Sky (AS) not comunicating properly? I had my destination wx forced with a distance of 70 miles.Any suggestions?I am using AS v1.90, FSUIPC v2.975, and Windows 98SE, and FS2002 Pro.Dane Pedersen

Have you checked if FS2002 has an instrument approach to KMCW ? Maybe it has not and maybe you have to load (if it exists) an AFCAD file to import the corrected airport in FS2002 using Lee Swordy's AFCAD tool. Could be an explanation for ATC vectoring you for visual approach. FS2002 "default scenery" is FULL of these bugs.Enrico.

Dane,Welcome to Active Sky and to the forum. How did you file your flight plan? FS02 will NOT change a VFR to an IFR. You need FS04 for that!!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
