December 19, 200322 yr Wow, what a great program. I am a new user to ActiveSky and am amazed at the realism. I'm running on a P4 3.2 Ghz with Fx5900 card and for some reason the sound stutters when the radar is loaded. I'm not having any problems with just the weather loaded (no matter how dense the weather is), only whenever I load the radar screen. I have disabled rendering to textures and made adjustments as stated in the manual, but I'm hoping to resolve this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated! Manny Patel
December 19, 200322 yr What sound card and do you have the latest drivers for it?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

December 19, 200322 yr If you turn the sound acceleration to 'basic' does that solve the problem?Run DXDiag (you can do this by typing DXDiag into the run program box), select the sound tab, and move the acceleration slider two notches left until it reads basic (assuming it was on full to begin with). Restart FS9 and let us know! Thanks,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)

I am basically unable to fly with the radar screen on for the stuttering of the aircraft sound and ATC are driving me crazy. I really love this program but need some help. Thanks guys/gals! December 19, 200322 yr Please try this: Adjust your radar details to low, alt. radar render off, radar details off.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
December 20, 200322 yr Author Thanks for taking the time to help me Jim. Even with radar turned on minimal settings I get this problem. In fact opening the Radar Window (CTRL 12) starts the stuttering whether the radar is showing or the surface weather report is showing. It doesnt matter if the radar is in large mode or small sized mode. Even if I click the white button to turn off the Radar it still stutters as long as the window is open. I have not had any sound comflicts with FS2004 or any other games, I think my system should handle it. I guess I can fly without problems as long as the radar is turned off:( Manny Patel
December 20, 200322 yr During betatesting I had the same problem : here is what I did and the sound stutters gone away. December 20, 200322 yr Maybe nothing to do with sound but what it does is that every single texture (water, terrain, aircraft, etc) loads instantly !so it can be that because of this there are more recources to let the soundstutters stop.hope this helps to decrease the stutters.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpgPatrick/EBBR Regards, patrickHiFi Technologies Apha TesterFDC/PFE 3 Beta TesterAivlaSoft EFB Alpha Tester

December 20, 200322 yr I don't think there is any magic solution to this. If your cloud settings - 3D and detailed - are on 100% and maximum respectively, you will get a substantive frame hit. And that's whether you are using FSW cloud set or not. Without using AS 2004 it's a hit and when using AS 2004 a further hit. Particularly if everything else is maxed out. I would recommend lowering the sight distance and the 3D cloud percentage to something around 80% and this with the FSW 32 bit cloud textures. I think it's quite apparent that without the clouds (ex. using the pancake clouds of FS 2002) that FS9 runs about like FS 2002 did. The clouds are THE single framegrabber in FS9.
