wxRE v1.92.4 fails to load weather with FS2002

Recommended Posts

JimActive Sky wxRE Version 1.92.4 fails to work for me. I have spent countless hours trying to fix this problem and cannot resolve it. The errors I get:- Download time-out, retrying on next update interval.- Cloud layer conflict in METAR, skipping transition...followed by:- Weather processing complete! (with no weather every being loaded)This happens at any airport. At this point in time, wxRE version 1.92.4 never works. I hit refresh, and the same sequence of events occur. Here are pictures of the problem, under Windows XP SP2 (no anti virus and no firewall installed).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/105183.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/105184.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/105185.jpgSome History of what I've done:1. I have a removable hard drive rack, and currently have 6 hard drives (HDD). HDD number 1 has Windows 98SE loaded, with FS2002, and wxRE 1.92.4 installed. WxRE 1.92.4 no longer works, and fails as above. However, Version 1.92 works fine using the Win98SE HDD, with the exception of winds aloft not working.2. HDD number 2, has Windows XP SP1, FS2002, wxRE 1.92.4, Norton Anti virus and Zone Labs firewall and a whole bunch of other junk installed. WxRE Version 1.92.4 fails as detailed above. WxRE 1.92 works fine, with the exception of winds aloft not working.3. HDD number 3 (My FS2002 gaming HDD) has Windows XP SP2, FS2002, and wxRE 1.92.4 installed. I have no anti virus software, or firewalls installed on this HDD, because I only use it for FS2002. I have never used IE to surf the web with this HDD, except going to Microsoft for windows Updates. The only other time this HDD accesses the Internet, is when I download FS2002 weather (within the game), or when trying to download weather using wxRE v1.92.4. Under this configuration, wxRE v1.92.4 fails as listed above. I recently removed wxRX v1.92.4 and started again from scratch. I installed wxRX v 1.0 which fails to run as seen in this picture. This may be normal, considering it's Version 1.0http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/105186.jpgI then upgraded to wxRE v1.92 which works, except for winds aloft data. Version 1.92.4 was released to fix the winds aloft problem, however, when I upgrade to this version (v1.92.4), wxRE no longer works. Here is a picture of wxRE v1.92 working.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/105187.jpgAll installs of wxRE are using the default settings that ship with the problem, and I'm currently using FSUIPC 2.975. I've tried different versions of FSUIPC (unregistered) with no success.I'm following this thread as well, because it appears Greg is having similar problems.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=14660&page=What else can I try?One question, where does wxRE v1.92.4 get its weather from? Where is it downloaded from? Is it different than v1.92? PS: I have a high speed internet connectionThanks

Hi RJ,First off, entire threads about a problem are never deleted. They are here to stay forever. We are not here to manipulate the forum. Sometimes it's not the message, but how the message is delivered. That is why I deleated your other post and removed your rant. Now on the other hand, this thread and Greg's are legit. You have done a great job showing us your situation and the history behind it. That stuff we really appreciate! I am almost ready to point Damian to these 2 because, as you know, I am out of ideas. Your situations are almost the same and it looks like you have tried the things from the other thread. One question: Have you tried to download a weather set to use in Offline mode?Like I told Greg, if we try all possible solutions and things don't work out, then users can voice their opinions and experiences, but we will know that we did everything possible to resolve the problem.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

I see that Jim...Great news for Greg... Here offline download works, but online forget it. I'll have to look further into my network connections, but at this time, wxRE refuses to download weather, while "online" is selected. Obviously I must have a connection issue somewhere? I don't get it..Thanks

No... I does not work under XP SP2 (and I have the firewall turned off), or under XP SP1. Also I tried it again under Win 98 and it does the same thing...I've also noticed that sometimes wxRE works if I load wxRE first, then start FS2002. But if I start FS2002 first then wxRE, wxRE never loads weather while online. I'm currently looking at my linkxsys router as a possible cause, because I really don't thing its my computer setup (failing under win98, XPSP1 and XPSP2). I'm going to bypass the router today and see what happens..I'd like to know where wxRE downloads its weather from? Is it an FTP site? What's the URL? Could the site be blocking my IP address? It's very odd I can download offline files, yet online just hangs up?I've been fighting this problem ever since v1.92.4 came out. I don't know why v1.92 works perfect (minus the winds aloft data), but v1.92.4 has stopped working for me. A few months back, I accepted the fact that I can no longer use Active sky Online and started using other software. I don't know if I'll spend much more time figuring this problem out, because in the end, I'm in the process of building a new computer and will eventually move to FS2004, after the Level D 767 PIC is released..Thanks

Hi,RJ, can you explain why it took so long for you to present your problem? I'm not knocking you, but I am trying to understand why some users wait so very long in presenting their situations. It's not much different then those that give their opinions about our products, present all their problems, but have never asked for help. Is it the "I can do it myself" syndrome? Is it the "Well I only paid XX dollars, so it's no big deal"? Is is "Well there are other programs out there that are just as good, so who cares?"The weather server is from NOAA, but I do not know the URL. The winds backup added to 1.92.4 is the Active Sky 2004 private server. After you do upgrade and install FS2004 I hope you will consider using AS2004.5 or whatever new product we have released at that time.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi Jim,My problem started just before August 7th, and then I posted my problem here on: Sat Aug-07-04 at 11:27 AM.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchAt that point in time it kinda worked, after about 5 or so refreshes, but "I" had to do the refreshes to have the weather change, as wxRE would not update/change on its own. I decided to revisit wxRE (after seeing Greg's thread), because it looked like he was having similar problems. After all, how many people still use wxRE? I thought I was alone ,and it appears I still am..As for the reason for giving up with my first post, or as you would put it; "I can do it myself syndrome", is because of the response you posted at the other site:http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/DC...ID10/44927.html"He has posted, but is just looking for some confirmations, and you gave him one!"I read your comment as: "one confirmation, obviously it's his problem, not wxRE's problem".I accepted that, and moved on with some dislike to your statement. Did I read it the wrong way? Maybe, only you know how you meant it.As you put it, "Well I only paid XX dollars, so it's no big deal". True statement, because I was a beta tester, I received wxRE for free.Active Sky was a great piece of software, and I've missed using it. I was one of the original beta testers for wxRE, but beta testing for wxRE I guess, is now over...Thanks for you time
