Hey Nick,>I'm waiting for the PSS XH558 !Now I'm confused. I communicated with Graham Waterfield of PSS a couple or so weeks ago re. the imminent release of XH558 in December and he confirmed that this was the case. When the Avro Vulcan Collection by VFR Scenery Ltd was announced on the front page of Avsim, naturally, I assumed that this was what he was referring to and so I placed an order stat!To give them their due they have done a good job with this collection of 11 variants of the Vulcan. The flight model, appearance of each aircraft with attention to detail are wonderful and clearly a great deal of care has been invested in those areas. However, I do have a couple of reservations:The installation occupies a fair bit of space on the HD. Each historical variant in the FS2002aircraft folder takes up 10MB + 33MB in each sound folder (not sure about the size for the gauges). The files in each sound folder appear to be identical so it is hard to understand why they did not alias the sound.cfg for each aircraft to a common sound folder in the FS2002aircraftFsfsconv folder. Easily done and appears to cause no probs. My other wee gripe is with the VC. It's OK, but the quality is a little disappointing. The sound files are very impressive indeed and threaten to shake the foundations of your house (assuming a half decent sound system, that is). What is missing, however, is the groaning yell from the engines during wind up at take off - shame :(However, all that said, I can say without any further reservation that this is a VERY worthwhile acquisition. Perhaps a little pricey but then the bulk of the purchase price is being contributed to the 'Vulcan to the Sky Project' and I, for one, don't begrudge a single penny. The absence of the Vulcan has been a gaping hole in my collection of a/c since the days of FS98 when , I seem to recall, FSDS produced a worthy example. I'm longing to see (and hear!) this superb example of British aeronautical engineering flying again. If you are correct and PSS are indeed producing XH588 independently then I can only jump up and down in eager anticipation of purchasing that as well :)http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e01a9fe141c8163.jpgCheers!Mike :-wave

How about some pic's of the 2d and 3d cockpits? Cockpit side views?Seeing this reminded me that I'm sitting here, about two miles away from the other waiting to get airborne Vulcan at Southend :-(Having said that, during last years Southend seafront airshow and open day at the airport, the Vulcan did actually get into the air durng a highspeed run down the runway! I wonder how tempting it must have been to declare insufficient stopping distance and have to climb out for a go-around? :-)Certainly restoring these amazing planes to flight is a must and it's something of an embarrasment that the National Lottery Fund manage to give cash hand over fist to all manner of (IMO) naff projects, and yet refuse this one.......very sad.All the best,http://www.blandreynolds.btinternet.co.uk/DF_PG_sm.gif

There are some tidy freeware Vulcan panels about; early stuff, but they work nicely. Look for the old Alpha Simulations panel by Phil Perrot, the Flightsim Developers panel by Graham "Dotcom" Waterfield and another by Michel Polski. FS98 ain't dead yet.I can't remember who produces this freeware Vulcan but it's available in the FS2002/aircraft library. http://www.swiremariners.com/avro.jpgMark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo3.jpg

Bruntingthorpe is only ten miles down the road for me, so every now & then, I go down there just to look, wonder and dream of her flying again, almost makes me cry!
