August 6, 200718 yr Hi,Depending on your computer and graphics card, 512 cloudss might make a performance difference. Turn Online Updates On and you will get current weather.Thanks!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 12, 200718 yr Author HiI now had time to make some different settings and the problem still excists. There is still no match between the metar in AC6 and FS9.A new example:FTTY 070800Z 28004KT 9999 FEW030 SCT040 BKN150 27/23 Q1014 RMK AUTOGENI see only clear sky in fs
August 12, 200718 yr Hi,Were you sitting right at the airport? What settings are you using now? Please let me know because there have not been any reports of this, so it is something unique on your system that we need to find and work out.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 12, 200718 yr Author HiNo, it never happens at the airport from where I take off. But very often it happens when arriving - I get close to the airport, I have checked the metar weather report being prepared for clouds, but just to realise that there are no clouds. Sometimes the other data from the metar like temp, wind etc are correct, sometimes not (in the last case temp will be 15 celcius, no wind and maximum visibility)Right now it is like this://ASv6.5 configuration file Build 551[General]WindowPosX = -60WindowPosY = 465DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9PersonalAppDataFolder = C:UsersmartinAppDataRoamingCloudLayerLimit = 3LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59LastPlanFolder = C:UsersmartinDocumentsFlight Simulator FilesAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = 50DefaultStartupLocation = EKCHDefaultGraphicsFullTheme = DefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = AutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = FalseIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseGEProAutoSubmit = FalseUseFetchedStationforGEPro = TrueShowDecodedMBasDecimal = FalseSkyOverride = GEPROFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseDisableWriteThrottle = FalseDisableProcessThrottle = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseEnableGEProWideFSMode = FalseExtendedThrottling = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = TrueZuluConversion = 2AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE
August 12, 200718 yr Author It seems that there is something about temp as well. Right now I am at KBOS - the metar says 23 degress celcius, but in fs9 its 25 - and I am not moving. the rest seems ok at this station (clouds, wind etc)
August 13, 200718 yr Hi,There is a bit of randomness built into FS so that is for the temps. You are not getting full updates because your suppression ceiling is 10000. That means that AS does not update weather if you are flying below that altitide. Lower that value to 4000 and see what happens.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 13, 200718 yr Author Thanks for answer but I doubt that has to do with it. First of all I already tried that, secondly the problem mainly occurs when I am above the suppression ceiling. It doesnt even work if I press refresh - the right metar is still not written into FS9 (even though it sometimes does)
August 13, 200718 yr Hi,It may also help you to know that METARs are exactly valid for a radius of 2 miles around a station. After that distance, you will get a blending of station weather, yes sometimes even clear weather, even if AS is reporting clouds.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 15, 200718 yr Author HiIf that is the issue how come that if I restart the fs the weather looks diferent and in comliance with the metar in AS ?And sometimes, but not always, I can refresh and it works that way.the problem is still that there, sometimes, is a huge diference between AS weather (metar) and fs9 weather. The problem occurs after flying for a while and it does not always work to refresh or download new weather reports.
August 15, 200718 yr Commercial Member Hi there,You may be experiencing local range suppression which is built into ASv6 and enabled by default. This prevents updates to stations within the suppression range (i.e. 100nm) to prevent hard visual shifts. If you have a METAR update to an area within suppression range this will not show visually, and is by design.Depending on your types of routes, this could definiately be causing this (i.e. short routes within your suppression range mean no updates after departure). If this is the case lowering the suppression range would help. By default its setup to handle most airline-type flights.FWIW with suppression enabled you won't get any updates while airborne within the suppression range (i.e. 80nm) UNLESS you are in SLEW mode. This includes refreshes. The behavior sounds consistent with what you are experiencing. If this doesn't explain and solve things please give us some reproduction steps using a specific date/time (and flight plan) so we can recreate this and try to duplicate on our end... This would help us to better understand what you are experiencing and either explain the normal behavior, offer suggestions for option changes, or identify any problem/bug in the system. We haven't any reports of similar behavior so this is most likely a misunderstanding of the options/features used with the type of flying you are doing. Thanks! August 17, 200718 yr Author HiI hope I understand what you been.I am now on my way from EGCC to EGCC and the problem occurs.Time is UTC hour 8, 17/8 2007.My actual position is n 54*13.62 E1*7.91Altitude 33000The METAR report:EGXV 170720Z 25012KT 9999 FEW025 SCT044 13/10 Q1013 RMK AUTOGENIn fs9 the sky is all clear. I can see that ASv6.5 refreshes the metar data, but after finishing its still clear. If I push the refresh its all the same.hope that makes sence//ASv6.5 configuration file Build 551[General]WindowPosX = -60WindowPosY = 465DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9PersonalAppDataFolder = C:UsersmartinAppDataRoamingCloudLayerLimit = 3LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59LastPlanFolder = C:UsersmartinDocumentsFlight Simulator FilesAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = 50DefaultStartupLocation = EKCHDefaultGraphicsFullTheme = DefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = AutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = FalseIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseGEProAutoSubmit = FalseUseFetchedStationforGEPro = TrueShowDecodedMBasDecimal = FalseSkyOverride = GEPROFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseDisableWriteThrottle = FalseDisableProcessThrottle = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseEnableGEProWideFSMode = FalseExtendedThrottling = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = TrueZuluConversion = 2AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE
August 17, 200718 yr Hi,I went to your location and the METAR was this:EGXV 171550Z 26012KT 9999 FEW035 19/07 Q1014Even though this is 50 some miles away from the station, I still had FEW clouds in FS.Are clouds set to 100%3D in FS?Is Cloud Coverage set to Maximum? Is dynamic change set to None?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 17, 200718 yr Commercial Member Hi,So essentially you are not getting any weather depiction. Here are a few ideas:1) FSUIPC installation is wrong or settings or bad. Suggest FSUIPC uninstall/reinstall and make sure after that WX SETTINGS OFF is chosen.2) Theme is interfering in FS - to clear all theme data select the Clear Skies theme in FS weather dialogs.3) Something wrong with FS installation. Reinstall FS.Wish we could be more help! This is a unique issue we haven't encountered before. Please try the above starting with #1 and see if things repair themselves. Please write us at [email protected] for continued troubleshooting directly with our developers and support staff. Thanks! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
August 17, 200718 yr Author Thanks a lot for the help until now.I just realised that I cant select clear skies theme in FS weather dialogs. or: I can but it imidiately changes to user defined weather when I turn on the AS.Is that normal ?I will chechk out the other things you suggest
