A related question for you Jim. I had recently found the need to re-install FS on my main PC to cure a terrain.dll problem which of course I had created myself ;-)To make things a little easier I have renamed the FS install folder from FS2004 to FS2004bad and then let FS do the install in the original folder FS2004. ASV is running on a second PC via WideFS. Everthing went pretty good as far as getting things working right again ...one thing I can't seem to get is the texture install from the Enhanced addition. If I remember right the first time after install I selected a graphics choice ASV Graphics went through an install routine of its own backing up the original textures and then installing the texture set I had picked. I have tried to let it do a restore of the original textures...and then reselecting the set I wanted but no joy. What is the best way to get them over to the FS PC...or do I have to do it manually this time ??So far both FS folders are still on the HD because some other minor copying still needs to be done. And of course the complete texture sets are on my #2 PC.Any hints are as always appreciated.

Hi,I am really not sure what you are trying to do! Are you trying to restore your backed up textures or submit new textures for the new install?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

HiOK! Use ASGraphics and choose textures and submit them to FS04. Make sure the proper options are set in ASG before doing this!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Hi,Sorry for being a little off topic but I am needing to do a re-format soon myself and was wondering if they was a way of backing up FS so I don't have to install everything like you suggested?

Hi Steve,Because you are doing a re-format and re-installation of your OS you are going to be much better off re-installing everything from scratch. Many programs have entries in the system registry.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Is there something that tells ASG that it has already copied the textures once and doesn't need to do it again ?? I guess if that is the case my options are to re-install ASV/ASG on the remote PC and then tell it to go ahead and copy......or do it manually.Cheers

Hi Sunny,The backup process happens one time on the very first running of ASGraphics and it copies the whole FS04 Texture folder. Yes, a backup texture folder is created and is checked. After that, it never happens again unless there is a fresh installation or no backup folder. So now help me out! Are you trying to:1. Restore textures2. Re-install a set of backed up textures3. Back up a new set of texturesNow remember, none of this is going to give you any DXT textures from ASG unless you had DXT textures installed by default. Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Hi Jim,I am trying to reinstall the texture set into the new FS installation.ASV is on the #2 PC and nothing on that has been changed. On my #1 or FS PC I had to do a re-install which of course means that all the ASV environment textures and cloud textures are no longer there..that is all default MS now.I can select any choice I want on the #2 PC and it tells me that the new choice has been sent to FS and will be used on the next start...but since the ASG textures are no longer really there it is using the MS ones. Which are 1. no where near as nice and 2. not running as good.So in a nutshell....I am trying to re-install the DXT texture set from my #2 ASG folder to the #1 PC new FS installation.I hope this clears up any confusion.

Hi,Sure does!! OK, try this: go into ASGraphics and submit a new set of clouds and take note of your computer time. Then open the FS04 texture folder and check the time of the cumulus1.bmp file. Is it the time of the submit?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
