ASV6 and GE Pro with WideFS

Recommended Posts

Hey GuysI can't think of anything other than to say ASV6 has got to be the best thing since sliced bread and since the integration with GE Pro it's like having your bread baked frssh AND then having it sliced, buttered and served to ya at a moments notice. My question:I run two PC's main one has FS2004 and GE Pro the secondary runs ASV6, Sqauwkox, Servinfo via Widefs. The reason is the main one is a 3.8GHZ with 2 GB ram and a Raid 1 300 GB Sata array, the secondary is 1.3 GHZ wth 512 ram so I run GE PRo II on the primary so when I add/create additional textures it is much faster processing textures My question is there anyway I can get ASV6 to launch GE Pro in auto submission mode via Widefs or just through a path. I didn't see any configuration option to point ASV6 to where GE Pro is installed. I am assuming it looks by default for GE Pro II on the same drive. ASV6 works fine through Widefs and processes weather updates and changes passing data over to FS2004 on the main PC with no problem. I fly online through VATSM 99% of the time so I like to have things as close to 100 % realistic as possible. Here is my start up process I have been using so far;1) Build my flight plan with FS Buid2) Open ASV6 and down load weather and check winds aloft3) Rebuild my flight plan in FS Build based on winds aloft data4) Import my flight plan in ASV65) Manually load textures in GE ProII based on weather form ASV66) Start FS2004 wait for weather to update via ASV6 ( set to Ignore FS Status and Unpause on on FS ready status)I deally I would like to be able to use the auto launch GE Pro feature but I am not sure if it is possible to point ASV6 to GEe Pro on the FS2004 PC. Also what if any am I losing with the way things are setup now or in how my loading process is performed. Thanks again for a great product and the best support in the world.Hank AdamHope my explnation makes sense ( I tried to not over explain ). Let me know if you need clarification on anything.

Hi Hank,Thanks for the kind words!I do understand what you are trying to do. I think all you need to do is check the Enable WideFS Integration Mode and the Enable GE Pro Submit on New FP and save your changes. If your registry paths are correct then ASv6 should find GEP on the primary machine. So it is not through a path but registry entries. Please let us know, Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

My registry paths are correct and it still don't work for me. After some trobleshoot with someone from GEP support, he discovered that the AS6 export cycle file was the culprit. I'm not sure what to do to fix it. I tried installing GEP on the client computer with no success.Bill M

JimI do have both Enable WideFS Integration Mode and the Enable GE Pro Submit on New FP checked in ASV6 on the secondary PC. It juyst doesn't know that GE Pro is on the other PCI upgraded both ASV6 and GE Pro at the same time and don't recall it asking where GE Pro was located during the upgrade for ASV6.I checked the registry on the secondary PC where ASV6 is installed and below is the the reg key for ASV6. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREHiFi][HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREHiFiASGraphics]@="""Install_Path"="C:ASV6ModulesASGraphics"[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREHiFiASV]"Install_Path"="C:ASVModulesASV"@=""[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREHiFiASv6]"Install_Path"="C:ASV6ModulesASv6"@="""Local"=dword:00000001I don't see anything related to GE ProLet me know where it would be if it is somewhere else and/or what to check or do next. Thanks again

Hi Hank,What does your registry show for GE Pro?There are these entries in the documentation: When GE Pro and ASv6 are not on the same machine, GE Pro will not be able to automatically launch ASv6. Likewise, ASv6 cannot launch GE Pro. Thus it is recommended to have both GE Pro and ASv6 on the same WideFS Client PC. To use the integration when GE Pro and ASv6 are NOT on the same machine, you must manually start GE Pro after ASv6 has processed the desired weather conditions. GE Pro will then find the required ASv6 weather information by accessing ASv6

Hi Bill,What exactly did Carl say? I know you did some trouble shooting with him at Flight1.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

I re-read the documentation and the way I have things setup ASV6 and GE Pro cannot start each other. I guess the way I was interpreting post was that they can start each other in a wWidefs installation with each being on differnt PC's. But as the documentation says........ thats not possible. Thanks for the quick responses, a great product and the new collaboration with GE Pro.

Was not allowing GEP to access it. I didn't know that GEP 2.11 was dependent on AS6 being installed on client or server computer. Carl said he would talk to someone at AS about this.So I tried installing GEP full version 2.11 on client computer, and still get errors when I try to start GEP. So I'll just go back to older versions and wait until something is worked out.Bill M

I would like to uninstall AS6 completely and start over again. Is there a full install without going thru all the updates and patches? Also the ActiveRadarConnector.exe no longer reads over the fswide AS6 folder? Is this suppose to happen?Bill M

Guest Carl Hackman

Hi BillThe problem I discovered was a permissions/security problem that would not allow GE Pro to open the export file. It knew it was there and the path to it but something was not allowing GE Pro to open the file so that it could retrieve the METAR data from the file. If we can sort out the security issue the problem would go away. The steps for integration would then be.1. Start ASv6 and get latest weather and then process your flight plan throught ASv6.2. Start GE Pro on the Server and allow it to obtain the weather data from the export file. You could then allow GE Pro to process the same .pln file so that it installs the textures that match the weather.3. Allow GE Pro to start FS9 (unless you wish FSAutostart to start FS9)That is how your wideFS installation should function.Hope this helpsRegardsCarlGE Pro Developer

Hello CarlI would jump for joy if I could get the 2 to work right. At this point if I could uninstall everything and start over maybe something would act right. I'm so frustrated at this point.Bill M:-)
