I've been fiddling with the settings of AS6 to try to get rid of the effect below - much complained and written about I think. Nothing seems to help. I laso get sudden changes in visibility as I descen/ascend (but that may be unavoidable in FS9?).What AS settings, if any, might help with this? Thanks.Martin

Hi Martin,You are correct about the visibility changes, especially between high and low or low and high. Some cut way back on their maximum visibility, but this would affect the whole flight. As far as your screenshot: it may be that you have Use FS9 Haze turned on in ASv6. You can check that Off and see what happens. Please let us know how things go,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi again Jim. Yes, the 'Use FS9 Haze' was ticked - so I have unticked it. Will test it out over some mountains ASAP and post back.In general (I've been browsing other posts on this', but there are so many, and haven't really come up with an answer), whilst I very much like to see some haze when flying (looks more realistic than crystal sharp terrain 35000' below), what I am getting at the moment is nearly always far too heavy. Having bought various ground textures (FS Scene, Ground Environment etc.), it would be good to be able to see the fruits of my expenditure a bit more clearly! In part, this might be the Wx files of course, but is there a way to thin out the haze globally, without it vanishing altogether?I'm sure you must have been asked this 1000 times before Jim. Sorry if so; thanks for the continued, reliable support!! (Some other FS add-ons I've bought recently should be ashamed of themselves in comparison!).Martin :-)

Hi Martin,Your posts are always welcome! No, there is no way to thin the haze so you need to make a trade off. I can suggest that for low flights turn it Off and for your higher flights have it on. You really shouldn't be able to view your own plane from the outside anyway!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Well, 99% of my flying is with heavies at 35000'+, so I'll leave it on. One side benefit of AS of course is that it often covers up ground textures that are outside the effective XP/FS terrain loading area and so look blocky or odd. Since I cleared up my initial AS frame rate problems (by lowering my graphics card antialiasing from 8x to 4x - amazing increase in fps) I tend to use AS pretty much 'full on', and with the Flight Environment 32-bit clouds, the effect is pretty magnificent, I must say.Swings and roundabouts then, as you say. I'll have to do some more low level VFR flying to appreciate my nice VFR Terrain ...M.
