Clounds being drawn visibly

Recommended Posts

I have, I hope, attached an image of the problem I have of parts of clouds being drawn visibly. As you can see the cloud edge is being drawn as a straight line, and it normally takes around 3 or 4 seconds to complete the drawing process. It only happens with the type of dark clouds shown here. It is not every cloud (by any means) that is drawn in this fasion, it's only the odd one or two.Can I thank you both for the program itself, and for the support that you give your customers. If only all providers were as good as you!Tim

Hi Tim,Thanks for the kind words! Some suggestions for your problem:1. 3D clouds at 100% in FS04?2. Cloud draw distance set to 30 or 40 in FS04?3. Video drivers up to date?4. Render to Texture off in FS04 unless using DXT textures?5. What is your maximum visibility set to in ASv6?6. What video card are you using?7. What is your frame rate locked at?Go through these and then let us know!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

I'm sorry to say that I've still got the problem. I tried unchecking the "Transform & Lighting" box, and it improved the situation a bit. However, the problem is still there.Tim

I have the same problems with the same v-card. The best work around I've found is Settings / Weather - Sight Distance 80 Mi, Cloud Draw Distance 50 Mi.If you play with these setting it helps but it's not perfect. Setting Sight Distance hammers the FPS a bit too however, it beats watching clouds draw and flicker, takes away from the sim.

I can add that I occasionally have this problem too, no matter light colored or dark colored clouds.I have played with the vis settings too. Haven't messed with Render to Texture though. I don't *think* I am using any DXT textures but I'm not sure.RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc.

Jim,I just want to thank you for your advice on setting up ActiveSky v6/ActiveSky Graphics you posted some time ago (Jan-04-06). Subject : Realistic Weather Settings.I have done everything exactly as per your instructions, I think both your eyes and mine have the same perception, as far as it goes with the weather depicted in FS9, or we have identical rigs. Because I have never seen such a realistic sky as I now do after resetting ActiveSkyV6/Graphics. It was worth the ZAR spent for the program. I
