Well I found that with ASV6 + FSX you can pull up the weather map just like with the stock Jepp weather. The difference is, that it appears that only the weather stations that ActiveSky has sent to the sim, will show weather. In other words, if you're in Denver, Colorado, USA, Activesky will load weather for Goodland, Eagle Co, Colo Sprgs, Rifle, Cheyenne, etc. but NOT for say, LAX. So clicking on KLAX in your weather map screen will report nothing. But click on any weather station near where you are, and it will show data.Of course, this is all probably well known to the devs, haha, but I thought I'd throw it out there for anyone interested.Oops, I am rambling again. !! All these dramas that are going on with FSX.I'm wonderring whether it's even worth it going out to buy it? It just sounds like a glorified FS9 with a little bit of icing on the cake. Please correct me if I'm wrong.Goran

Hi All,We will not get into whether FSX is worth a purchase or not! There is enough of that out there already. The same things can be said when FS04 was released, when FS2002 was released and so on!! Everyone needs to make up their own mind and do what they think is right. We will continue to support our FS04-02 products while moving forward into FSX.Enough Said,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Wow...fair enough.I downloaded an early beta of FSX and I was getting FPS in the area of .5 fps. Then a later version came out and I couldn't install it for some reason.Going by some screenshots, it certainly looks sexy but I think I'll wait until all the add on developers have perfected the upgrade process to make their products work near flawlessly in the new FS.I want to make sure, also, that my rig can handle the sim itself. For those in the know, any opinions will be more than welcome. Here are the specs for my machine.P4 3.2 HTGeforce 7600GT1 GB DDR RamAll the other stuff is pretty standardI have a Zalman Cooling fan for both the CPU and the Video Card so I can overclock and keep the temps low.Goran

Hi,You can just run ASv6 as is for now. Just don't try to use ASG by pointing towards FSX.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi, I tried ASv6 with FSX and as you say it works ok. One question, the visibility remains the same at altitude as it is on the ground eg. EGSS was giving 4500mtrs in haze, when I climbed up to eventually FL310, the viz was the same, occasionally, things cleared for a millisecond but generally stayed in haze. Is this an issue that will have to be dealt with when you bring out the patch for FSX or is there a setting somwhere to overcome this.I have tried various settings ie, changing viz max range etc but nothing seems to make any difference.Bill

Hi Bill,Enable the "Depict fs9 haze layer" option which will get your visibility at upper altitudes back. FSX doesn't support direct ambient control of visibility via ASv6 fs9-based graduation/smoothing and thus the definitive haze layer ceiling (vis layer) must be depicted so that things clear up above.Best,
