Hi EveryoneJust installed Beta 536 and did my first flight in FSX, didn't realize how easy it was to use and clouds look fantastic. The only wrinkle I found was that every several minutes the Cessna 172 would veer violently to the right then after several seconds return to its original line of track.Possilby I have either a setting in my registered version of FUIPC 4.02 or a setting in the option page of Active Sky which is causing this problem.Any assistance would be appreciated.Kenny G.

Hi Kenny,Fly again, but this time turn on the wind direction and speed indicator and see if those values are quickly changing. Wind shifts are a problem area right now in FSX and one fix is to really control them through your FSUIPC settings. Please let us know!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Do you have to have the registered version of FSUIPC to changed these settings?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian

I was asking JSkorna if a person would need the registered FSUPIC in order to change the various wind control settings. You see, I am getting these weird wind shifts at high altitudes in FSX, as Jim reports is an issue, and I was wondering if one needs the registered FSUIPC to try to control these weird effects.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Hi Mace,Yes, because the default values are set to 5 MPH/5 Deg. Some are needing less than that. Thanks, Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

>Hi Mace,>>Yes, because the default values are set to 5 MPH/5 Deg. Some>are needing less than that.>Thanks for the reply. I do not understand what you are saying there. :) I guess I would have to know what FSUIPC's wind dialog looks like to fully understand what you are getting at. I assume you mean FSUIPC has a control that allows a person to specify a maximum wind shift of 5mph and/or 5 degrees per second or per minute or something. ??RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Hi Mace,No those are the default values programed into both the pay and the free versions of FSUIPC. In the pay version you can go in an adjust those values to slow down the shifts even more. Some planes/users look to do this. Yes, you can adjust the heading and/or the speed change rate.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

I have the same problem with turbulence as well. However, I can't see how to change the wind shift rate in FSUIPC. I am registered and use version 4.04, and have attached a screen shot of the "wind" tab. What am I missing?Tim

Hi Tim,Pete must have changes the interface for FSX. You will need to ask him. He may have taken it out.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

So any thoughts on where the turbulence is coming from? I must say though that the turbulence problem occurs with the Flight Sim downloaded weather as well as "your" weather, so it's not purely a ASV phenomenon. The turbulence disappears as soon as I press the "clear weather" button.Tim

Hi Tim,From FSX, through SimConnect, which is planned to be updated every so often by Microsoft.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi all,Some clarification on this...FSX & SimConnect API does not currently permit direct ambient control of ANYTHING including wind velocities. Thus FSUIPC or any other form of wind smoothing will not work. Registered or unregistered FSUIPC, there is no wind smoothing capability. We are working on a potential "work around" to all this which will not involve FSUIPC. At the same time we are hoping MS releases an update to SimConnect which gives us ambient control back and/or an updated FSX patch which solves the problem altogether. It's one of those things that is really frustrating us as developers as well as FSX users everywhere. If you'd like to potentially help things along, please send an e-mail to tell_fs@microsoft.com and express your concerns. We're confident things will get worked out eventually, it's just a matter of when. Thanks!
