Disappearing Instrument Panel

Recommended Posts

Hi Fellow Simmers:I posted several weeks ago re: instrument panel disappearing.I have since updated my drivers to the latest Nvidia drivers thinking this was the problem. It has not changed the panel from disappearing in the planes either default or payware.I presently have a due core GF 7950 card. When I start FSX with no weather panel's are visible. When I load active sky the panel disappears and if I keep changing views from spot to main panel it will sometimes re-appear but not all the time.It does not make any difference re: visibility being less then 10 miles because the weather today is clear with few clouds.Due to this problem I am unable to fly FSX.I did take the advise from Jim in my earlier post and started FSX with no cfg file and allowed it to reconfig. a cfg file again with no success.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Kenny G.

Hi Ken,From the general FSX Forums you will see that this happens to a few FSX users and in not related to AS as you just discovered. It seems to happen mostly under low visibility conditions. I am not sure of any fixes, though you may want to try limiting the minimum visibility through AS.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi Kenny,Though I don't know what is causing this it is evident that AS does trigger the problem.I've been flying with a static weather file for quite awhile and had no problems for days. I ran AS (min vis set at 10) and the problem was immediately evident. This, as well as the stutters on update are keeping me away from what had become a favorite add-on.It's very sad.

Hi Lupo,Manually set the visibility to a low value in FSX and you may get the same result. Many think it is the low visibility that causes this because there are posts in General Forums that even users that do not have a 3rd party weather program experience this.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

I think this is a gfx card + driver + FSX issue. I think someone should mention this to Microsoft FS team, at tell_fs@microsoft.comPerhaps more users with 7950 cards have this issue more often. (??)While the disappearing panel issue has only effected me one time, I probably have not flown in as many low-vis conditions as you all.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2530 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian

Jim from ASv6 ,suggest I change my min vis in the option page to a higher number then 0.I raised it to 15 and it seemed to work although you do not get the complete effect,s of the weather. After making the reflection change I reduced the Min visibility to 0 with no problems.Good Luck Rob and have a Merry Xmas.Kenny G.>
