Getting prepared for ASX

Hey guys,I was looking at the new site (nice job) and I was going through the horsepower that it will take to run ASX. Seeing the requirements I have just a few questions.I have a client machine that I run now, gonna have to retire her and bring a machine online that I have in the closet. So, as far as ASV6, I have upgraded in the past from all the older versions, and honestly I can't remember where to start from scratch from. I have everything backed up, or is there a way to just get a ASV download link. I still run FS9 so I would like to keep ASV.Second Simconnect, not familar with it all. I have gone through the forum here on Avsim, not finding a real great tutorial. It it looks like ASX will not work with WideFS, I could be wrong though. Thanks in advance, I have a long weekend so I thought I would get the second machine setup is the only reason I am asking all of this. Thanks!!

Hi DaveNot sure about the ASV situation, I'm sure Jim or Damian will clarify that for you.With regard to setting up simconnect, it is very straight forward and the ASX documentation gives detailed information on how to do this. Carl,Yes I got the Deluxe version, so I am good. It looks straight foward but far less straght foward than Wide FS is, so that's why I asked. I could be just reading alot of that into it though.Jim,Email on the way.I will ask this though for the board though. Will I really need that much "Horsepower" since ASX will be running on a client machine?

Hi DaveIt is a fairly simple process and just involves running the simconnect.msi, setting up a couple of files and opening port 500 (recommended port number) on your firewalls (client and server).The simconnect.ini that will be mentioned is a sanity check to see if ASX is communicating across the network ok.It really should take no more than 10mins to set up the network. Like I said earlier, a detailed step by step explaination is in the ASX Docs.I run ASX across the network on my Inspiron 6400 laptop and have no problems with performance there. Carl,As per one of questions up above. Will I really need to have the "Horsepower" on my Client machine using Simconnect then. The main machine I'm assuming will be doing all of the graphics processing.I also should have made my previous question a bit clearer. Since your beta testing ASX with Simconnect, what else right now are your running via Simconnect. I hate to ask here but the Simconnect board is all over the place, it's almost overwhelming. So if this is to much off topic here I appoligize in advance.

Hi Dave,Almost any computer will be enough to use as a client, unless it is so old.
