How do I know if ASX is running in FSX?

Forgive me if these questions have been asked earlier. I'm basically interested in knowing three things:1. How do I confirm if ASX is actually working in FSX?2. What is the start-up procedure when using ASX and FSX? Should I start ASX before FSX - or can I do this once FSX is running? 3. Should I choose real-world weather - or user-defined weather - in FSX?Sure hope someone can help on this. Thanks!

Hi Mark,Sure can help!1. Weather from ASX appears and your current location in FSX is reflected in ASX, especially if you can click on the Lock to FS Position box in ASX.2. ASX, wait for weather to be downloaded and processed, then start FSX.3. User defined should automatically be selected once FSX recognizes that ASX is running. Unfortunately, I'm still not seeing any ASX weather (after reading your advice) - and I can't click on "lock to FS position" either before or after starting FSX. I chose a morning flight from Seattle today and, according to ASX, the weather should have been overcast. The clouds present were only something comparable to fair conditions. It appears as though ASX loads properly. I did look at WxConfig and even clicked on the "load current" button; "automatic weather downloads" were chosen, as well, on the settings page. During an additional flight from San Luis Obispo, in California, the weather should have been clear. I ended up with fair to partly cloudy conditions. Do you have any idea about how to get around this? I'm still using ASV6.5 in FS9, and I would love to be able to use ASX (in FSX) if only I could. Thanks for any additional help. It seems I need it! ;)

I flew out of Portland this evening, and ASX indicated that the weather was overcast with slight rain. FSX showed the X Guage (which should really tell me that ASX is working!), but there was no overcast weather, only light clouds. I just don't get this. How can the X Guage show without real weather being transferred?

I loaded up ASX and decided to fly from KBPT, in Texas, where I knew it was raining. Hi Mark,This "stuck" weather situation is smoething we are looking into. I personally have seen the same type of situation so I know what you are seeing. And if you go to the advanced weather page you will see that weather matches ASX and if you click OK, and then OK again, the correct data will suddenly show up. Jim, the only thing is that I still am not seeing real-time ASX weather on my computer. In fact, the default Jeppersen "real-time" weather looks much better! :( I feel as though I'm the only one who can't use ASX, and this is rather disheartening since I never had such problems with ASV6.5 in FS9. Is there nothing I can do??

And I am absolutely delighted by the quality of the HiFi Team's work. This is just brilliant. Having worked on the Microsoft Beta Team the past few months, I had access to an SP1 file that was only 104MB, whereas the updated file on http://www.fsinsider.com is reported to be 108MB. Once I downloaded the file, it proved to be 113MB! So here I was assuming that I had a working SP1 on my computer when I actually had a file that wasn't in order. If I can give the HiFi Team any advice, it must be to ask those who are having problems with ASX to check the size of their SP1 and, not least, to download the most recent SP1 file made available at FS Insider. Thanks for your consistent help on this matter! :-)
