Wrong weather decoding with ASX SP1

Recommended Posts

Hello,Just installed SP1 and made a quick flightThe destination airport wx is reported as LGLM 151420Z 32011KT CAVOK 31/13 Q1008The decoded textual weather at ASX is as followsWind 320 at 11 (Correct)Visibility 10SM (correct)Clouds Overcast at 9000 (Completly Wrong CAVOK-> No clouds)temp 31 CorrectDew 13 Correctqnh 1008 CorrectSo what's wrong with the clouds? Is there any problem to correclty decode the CAVOK part? On my setting the CAVOK cloud generation is at 0%Any ideas?Chris

Another example:London HeathrowEGLL 161850Z 27011KT CAVOK 17/08 Q1013 NOSIGdecodes to270/11 10sm bkn@4900 17/8 1013Reviewing what CAVOK is supposed to be:Horizontal visibility of => 10 km, no clouds below the MSA altitude of the respective airport, no significant weather. As the MSA of EGLL is 4200 according to my FS-Commander the translation seems to be OK.Can you confirm that the translation of the METAR is what it is supposed to be ?Had thought that CAVOK in general would yield better VIS and fewer clouds. Generally spoken: better weather. I'm no expert in aviation weather, though.Ralf

Thx for your reply.Another example of just now:Stuttgart, GermanyEDDS 172320Z 32002KT CAVOK 13/09 Q1021decodes to:Vis 10,0 SM OVC@2200, BKN@9500, OVC@10000 ftWind and temps are accurate.Apart from the inaccurate cloud-coverage this time-as the definition of CAVOK is => 10sm, do you kind of randomize the CAVOK vis or is it 10sm no matter what ?RalfP.S. Build is 1083
