FSX not updating weather from ASX

Recommended Posts

Guest HandsB

Hello, I've had this problem with FSX not updating weather from ASX for some time now, as you might remember from some post some time ago.I thought I had it solved, but it never actually worked rightEverything seems to be working ok,ASX is updated with SP1, I've got connection from a client pc, can lock plane is ASX, when i start the game the beginning weather depiction and weather depiction complete messages appear, the game stutters for a sec when I connect or disconnect ASX but for the weather that insists in not working right. Also nothing happens if I try custom weather like rain or snowWatching the sim connect report file on the server machine, I notice that the metar depictions there have nothing to do with my location, all the weather stations around me begin with LP, but in the sim connect debug file the metar strings begin with different letters, like KS, KJ, CW, might that be it ?Could you please take a look and tell me if it it is ok ?I've also got fs commander in the client machine, but I don't think that's the prob, as I've only had it for a week or something, and this problem has been here since I brought ASX.Thank you in advanceBrunoEncoded metar in ASX reads like this -->> LPOT 252200Z 26009KT 10SM FEW045 SCT120 19/18 Q1013This is an excerpt of Sim connect's report file in server machine0.00000 Hi Jim, yes, it is, and i've tried changing it with ASX off, then choosing a plane and turning on ASX while still in the planes window, when i return to main window, it switches automatically to User DefinedI've tried a reinstall of Simconnect just now, and ASX was working ok for a while, then it seem to stop updating again in game, one second it was cloudy and foggy, next the sky is clear and sun is shining. Gauge is ok also, everything seems ok but the weather updateIs the log file correct ?Regards and thanks for your helpBruno

Hi,As far as I can tell it is.Good, FSX should automatically switch to User Defined. That means that FSX and ASX are communicating, even for a brief time. Now, because things are working and then not working, I would look to your firewall/anti-virus/networking set-up and see if there is anything that the causing the communication to work and not work.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Hi, once again, thanks for your reply.Regarding the problem, only firewall is windows's, AV is avast, but I disable it to play on both pc's, both pc's are connected through a hub switch (I've also tried a direct cable connection, but prob remains) both ethernet cards are onboard, main mobo is P5WDH Deluxe and laptop is a Toshiba satellite, OS is XP PRO SP2 on both machines with all updates, .Net updated to the latest V.3, I really can't figure out why its not working. I've tried the AI planes test and it seems to be working ok. I get lots of added and removed entries in AI's test.I noticed one thing yesterday though. When ASX was working and stopped working all of a sudden if I disconnected the cable connecting both machines while it was disconnected, weather updated again in game, and when I reconnected the cables it made one more update then it stopped again )I noticed this because I was trying custom WX like rain and snow to test it)Another thing I noticed too is that I'm not getting sim connect .txt report file in C anymore on server machine, does that mean it might not be connecting right ? RegardsBruno
